If this vehicle has a trailer harness, that could be the problem; it could be shorted out. Additionally, if there is no trailer harness, look under the truck bed at the rear, look for a grey wiring connector that wires come out of, and run to the taillamps. I have observed corrrosion in this connector, which will result in a short circuit. You may find it necessary to cut the connector out and resplice the wires back together (eliminate the connector), if severe corrosion is indeed present.

SOURCE: 1996 Toyota t100 check engine

What codes do you have?
You start with the check light issues first

I just parted with a truck, I had over 18 years with OE Plug wires,
one before 17 years ,and my current one, 20 years,I have owned it 27
Had one wire burn out near plug in 1990

Plugs never misfire by design, they do however wear the electrodes,
which stresses ignition modules

No headlight on 97 T100 tail lights and running lights work

Test for voltage going into and out of the hi/low switch. If you have voltage at the headlights, check the ground wires.

1995 Toyota T100 Xtracab dash lights are out, all fuses are good.

Do you have the dash light dimmer control turned to the off position by chance? Check this first, if that is ok and is turned on then you likely need a new dimmer switch.

The steel arm connecting both front wheels with the steering arm of my 1996 Toyota T100 broke. both tires lost directional sense. What is this arm called and how will i get it?

Hi. Please call your nearest Toyota dealer. Give the service dept your vehicle identification number (all 17 digits); the metal arm that you are speaking of may be replaced for free, under a recall program. It is commonly called the "relay rod". I hope this helps you out.
