By not moving I assume you mean lifting and leveling? The good part is all the mechanisms required to make the pump run are working. The part you are having problems with is containing the air.

There should be a Master "dump" valve to allow the air to escape. Sometimes these solenoids freeze. There are also solenoids for each end or wheel to level the car. You have, of course air lines and suspension bags.

If any of these leak, the compressor can not keep up and will run continuously. You have several options. Depends on whether you can fix it yourself. Using a water spray bottle with soapy water, you can wet each air line and suspension bag while the compressor runs. The soapy water will bubble at the leak.

Or you can have a special scanner plugged into the diagnostic port for the suspension. It can "read" the sensors and indicate what is wrong.
Not all places have this type of machine. The Dealer, any GM brand Dealer, can attach this equipment and evaluate the system.

Some repair shops, body shops, may have bought these special scanners. You would have to call around to avoid going to a Dealer.

Since the system is leaking, you will not have to deal with all the pressure that operates these systems. But they can be dangerous and they do support the weight of the car possibly sliding off jacks if the system drops.

I hope my solution is helpful. You may find the parts aftermarket.

Rear air suspension doesn't inflate everytime vehicle is started

My Buick had this problem and we found the pump was worn out. It just would not blow up when trying to run. They wanted a lot of money to replace it and the shocks.so I bought a kit that the air line hooks underneath the license plate Now about once every three months I use my air compressor to pump it up. My old air shocks lost air all the time. My new air shocks stay blowed up for over three months.

Problems with rear air shock auto leveler.

Hello,

Assuming you did replace with the same type of air-shock, it may seem simple, however ensure the hoses are reconnected and air tight. Spray soapy water on the air lines to check for leaks (you'll need to adjust the load to ensure pump function).
Speaking of pump function; check your pump by turning the key to ON. Wait 30 seconds and you should hear the air pump running under the right rear of the car (under the trunk next to the subframe).
If you can not hear the pump running, then check all fuses. If fuses are good and pump does not run, then it may be time for a replacement pump.

I hope this helps.

Is there any way I can replace the air suspention on my 2000 Buick Lesaber with regular shocks I am looking for a more inexpensive way to fix it I hear the motor running trying to pump but the shock...

i would contact a supplier that deals with aftermarkt suspension systems, removing the air ride will require you to beef up the spring rate ,

My shocks are overacting. 2000 Buick LeSabre

Yes, it is the sensor that measures the height of the car and tells the system to stop pumping air.

I quick fix - just pull the fuse on the air pump if you want to stop it for now.

THe sensor may just have mud on it. Look near the rear wheel, driver's side, you may have to remove the tire to see the sensor.

1998 seville sts check suspension light stays on. New shocks on rear.

that system has a pump, you should hear it run when you start the car. it also has a bleed valve. i have seen the valve get stuck before. i don't remember what year caddillac stopped putting the suspension switch in the trunk, but if the switch has been turned off the light will remain on as well. there is a level sensor under the rear of the car connected to the suspension you can try to disconnect the arm and manually move it and see if the pump kicks on. there is a few second delay before you hear the pump. if the fuses are good and the switch is on check for voltage at the pump when you move the level sensor. check for signal from the sensor. if pump runs and shock don't air up check for air leaks with soap water spray, and/or air bypassing valve. hope i helped you...dustang

Auto ride on 2000 Yukon XL needs replacing.

Hey,

The air pump in located in the very back-left (driver's) side, underneath.
You know the shocks can "look" quit bad and still be okay.
Everything about this system is expensive (to me).
There is also a height sensor that can go bad and keep the air-pump from running.

I recommand an expert on this system.

Your GM Dealer is your best bet for parts.
Just my opinion.

Good Luck
