SOURCE: Nissan Quest 1996 won't start. Battery good.

Oddly enough, this happened to me one morning. Thank goodness the AAA mechanic that showed up had seen this before. If you have a theft deterrent system, turn the key in the lock several times. Apparently, this will reset the electrical system that is keeping the car from starting. Good luck!

My 97 Nissan Quest won't start after alarm went off

Sounds like the 'Anti-Theft' vehicle immobilizer system has been engaged. If you have handy access to your Vehicle Manual, check there first to vehicle specific hints and tricks.

Alarm systems are supposed to 're-arm' themselves after an incident triggering an alarm. This may take a few minutes during which time it ignores the key fob transmissions. If you can open the door but the engine won't start with the key or start button, try resetting the alarm with the key in on the "ON" or "ACC" position and using your fob button. If the alarm starts again, silence it with the fob button again.
OR
(Assuming your battery is in good condition and the gear selector is in PARK or NEUTRAL) If you have access to the hood release, disconnect the NEGATIVE battery terminal for 10 minutes to force a reset of all electrical functions upon reconnection. Make sure you don't touch the cable to any other part by slipping an old sock or mitt over it for safekeeping. (You might lose your radio and climate control presets but they can be reset easily once the main problem is bypassed.) Test the DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK button to verify that power has been temporarily disabled to the entire vehicle. After the wait, reconnect the power cable securely and try to start the vehicle.

My Nissan Quest 2000 does not start at all. The battery and the starter are fine. The problem has to do with resetting the alarm system. Can anybody help me with this problem?

you must do a search for the owners manual it will have the sequence in it for programming the remote control to reset the alarm you must disconnect the battery cables then reconnect the ground first then connect the + when the alarm sounds press a button on the remote control to shut it off if this works it should now disable the starter disable circuit and let the car start make sure the remote has a fresh battery in it LATER MAN!

How can permanently disable the anti-theft device in my 1996 Nissan quest? It goes off unexpectedly and then locks down the engine so it won't start. There is nothing worth stealing in this vehicle...

If you're ok about messing with the wiring on your vehicle, you can connect the factory disarm wire permanently to a body ground, to disable the factory security. The factory disarm wire is;

Factory Disarm Red/Black (-) Driver's Kick Panel

My 1996 nissan quest gxe wont even power solinoid or starter when i turn key.dash lights come on only im positive its the factory security alarm.how can i reset it

this alarm system is reset with the key being turned in the door, lock and unlock the driverside door and then see if it starts if not then do the same to the pass/side and see if it starts if it doesnt then you may have a bad starter, the best thing to do is check for power at the small wire on the starter if theres power to the small wire with the key in the crank postion and there should be power on small wire if there is then replace the starter, hope this helps.

2004 Nissan Quest - alarm Waking the neighbors

If it's a cheap aftermarket alarm, check for a red wire coming off the hot side of your battery with an inline fuse. If it's not, try to locate the alarm "computer" under the driver's side dash or nearby your fuse panel. You'll find a black box with a wiring diagram glued to the side, normally strapped to a wiring harness or other fixed element. If this is the type of alarm you have, you'll need to trace each wire coming from the alarm computer and unclip each fastener that's clipped to your vehicle's factory wiring. The trouble with these types of alarms is that they tie in and get power from a number of sources (stereo, interior lights, etc.), so you'll have to trace and unclip 8-12 wires to fully disengage. Good luck!
