Altenator do you know How to instructions to replace alternator on 1999 ford windstar

I would check age of battery. Batteries these days are made with cheaply coated parts and only last about 5 years. Many times a bad battery will over work the alternator making them go out. Since you have changed the alternator I am assuming that you checked and cleaned the battery connections.

98 windstar 3.8 problems - CarGurus

Battery is going dead, probally not getting charged by the altenator.

Aftermarket radio set up to play when no key in ignition? Or CB? or aftermarket alarm system?

If so- those can put a phantom load on the battery when it is shut down.

If you do not have those installed, does your fuel pump continue to run? If so- try swapping the fuel pump relay if that does not remedy it, replace the oil presure switch it may be stuck closed.

check altenator connections,is belt slipping? check your fuses also the ones under hood in black box

Have you found out what cause the problem, because the same exact thing happened to my van yesterday, and its a 1999 Ford Windstar also.

you may have blew the whole cluster but not likely,
check the fuses to all accessories and guages. check your field wire on the altenator and make
sure it is hooked up correctly on the altenator.

for starting alternator wont play a role, if battery is full charged then alternator nothing to do with it,yes it could be problem with solonoied switch it come with starter motor .i t is fitted on back side of engine , near by gearbox.

even if they are both a 3.8 the answer is no.

Have you taken the belt off yet.
The belt is tensioned with a pulley which is spring loaded. Look for a small pulley wheel about 2 inches in diameter. Put a spanner on the nut and move it to loosen the belt.The alternator is a fixed one which has no adjusting arm. Just bolts to secure it.
