SOURCE: Rear diff pinion seal replacement, preload torque

just yank it up tight with a bar about 50cms long, their should be collapsable spacer between the taper bearings just tighten it like a professional without overtightening it so and shearing something .handfull of grease in the diff casing to slow/stop any oil leaks top up with ep 90 and away you go,the crownwheel to pinion setting is just a little wiggle woggle ,or you could use a dial gauge but its quicker and easier ,too tight and it whines and too much play and it clunks, nice little wiggle woggle and it will work fine .trust me

Hi We need the torque settings for a rear differential pinion nut and carrier bearings on a Isuzu 2,8 diesel frotier 2006 model

get the workshop manual or go see a diff repair shop
depending on the make of diff
some pinions are measured by a preload as the bearing spacer collapses to a set distance to give that preload
others have a solid spacer to get the setting
with the side bearings it is a preload measured at the crown wheel
everything is explained in the workshop manual

BA Falcon m86 v8 limited slip diff torque specs for full overhaul , and change of ratio. Can't find any help through ford at all.

all differentials are all set to the same specifications as to pinion bearing preload , carrier bearing preloads and back lash between the crown wheel and pinion
the contact pattern is always the same as is the torque measurement of the drown wheel to carrier bolts
so any workshop manual that has a differential repair section will have what you want
find yourself a ford workshop manual and follow the section as to rebuilding a diff
Note --the pinion will have a + or - measurement on the end and that denotes the thickness of the spacer under the pinion between the pinion and the bearing inner race
you will have to get that right or the contact pattern will be out
3.7 ration is in utes or station wagons so it may be simpler to get one out of that vehicle and re-race it as all you will need then is new bearings and a collapsable spacer and a good tension wrench and a spring balance to get the pinion bearing preload correct

Min./max backlash required on diff for Isuzu KB280DT 1998model after reconditioning & prior to "running in"

around .005" -.010" measured at the crown wheel tooth
if you have back lash at the pinion yoke , that is not the backlash you need to measure as it is a combination of axle spline and side gear clearance in the diff
what is most important is the mesh position of the crown wheel and pinion teeth, preload on the pinion bearings and diff carrier bearings
you will need a workshop manual to get the correct mesh setting and preload readings

I have replaced bearing on the pinion and crown on nissan 3.2. its has a bad noise. how do i adjust pinion and crown?

Adjustment to crown wheel and pinion has to be done after bearing replacement on the pinion and carrier. It is a method that unless you have done a lot of diff repairs will amount to a trial and error procedure to get it right. Fortunately any work shop manual that you can borrow will have the way to set up the diff and there will be photos and directions on which to move to get the setting right. It is important to get the reading right as correct gear mesh will ensure a long lasting quite diff operation.

My Honda 2004 CR-V develops a howling noise from the rear of the car after about 20 miles of driving. I have changed the rear differential fluid, and burnished the differential clutches per Honda Service...

A howling noise from a diff is an indication of the gear mesh( pinion to crown wheel) is not correct. Several reasons being worn pinion bearings--loss of preload on the pinion bearings --- crown wheel carrier bearings failing ---not sufficient preload on the bearings---wear on the teeth from incorrect diff oil in use. or simply wrong diff oil. The grade should be 80w90 OEP for normal or special oil for limited slip diffs.

Because of the many special tools needed to complete this job i suggest you remove the unit yourself and have it rebuilt by a local machine shop. If you do this wrong you will end up with rune new parts and a whining gear noise

How to Replace rear wheel bearing

first remothe the diff cover and drain, find the bolt that retains diff gears and remove then remove pin holding the diff gears, at this point do not rotate any part at all, axle or crown, push axle inward and remove c clip holdin axle in, pull axle out and using a bearing puller remove bearing, lubricate new bearing and install using new seal, examine axle for damage to bearing contact surface is good install , reverse procedure to finnish and fill rear end with new oil

Hello, I need to change the collapsible spacer of ring and pinion gear set (1989 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer) this spacer is located in the drive axle, so I need to know where to find it or buy it, thanks for...

this spacer is located on the pinion itself, between the two bearings. What you need to know is that for this to become loose, there is ususally wear on the bearings...plan on replacing both pinion bearings.... And inspect carefully the carrier bearings.
This job requries resetting of clearances, and if done incorrectly a noisy rear end will result.

Another option is to replace rear end with used one.

Rear diff bearing torque settings 95 trooper

Do you mean the pre loads on the pinion bearings and the crownwheel ?
Pinion is 6 - 11.5 lbs Ins on new  bearings on the big nut as you turn it up the pinion should just start to turn .
, it has a collapsible spacer ..
Crown wheel bearing caps are 80 Ft/Lbs.
Crownwheel bearings are loaded by getting the backlash to 006' - 008' thou and putting a 002' shim each side to load the tapers up .
