Engine Missing / Hesitation Cold Weather

On mornings that are around freezing or below, when I start my truck it idles at around 1200rpms then after about 10 seconds begins to miss and at times, left unchecked will quit. If I immediately press the gas and keep the RPMs above 1200, then it runs without missing and if I drive it, it is ok. However if i do not let the truck warm up before I begin to drive, when I stop at stoplights and such even after the engine is warm it hesitates and misses. However if I let the engine warm up before I drive, or go slow enough for the engine compartment to warm up and then stop at a stoplight, all is fine.

What could it possibly be?

I, too, have this same problem with my car. All the fuses are fine, and the bulbs are fine. The brake light in the back window works, but the read ones do not. This is crazy.

I have experienced this problem on similar vehicles. You should try and replace the coolant temp sensor. If it is not reading the correct temp to the ecm, it will not get the right fuel map. Also, the cts will not always throw a code.

If you haven't already you should check your spark plugs to see if you a bad plug or possibly a bad coil pack.

Typically the brake switch is way up at the top of the pedal assy. (not easy to get to sometimes) The fuse should be listed as a particular # in your owners manual

Engine turns but won't start when temperature id around freezing or below.

Possible bad cold start valve or the sensor that tells the valve to activate when cold. Start by replacing the cold start valve first.

Cold weather won't idle, engine dies

Please check your idle controller whch is normally located near the air intake.Sometimes cleaning them and putting them back solve this problem.

Fuel pump not running only in cold weather

Pumping the pedal on an injected engine does nothing, except varying the air intake amount. I would change the fuel filter (if badly plugged, it may be causing the pump to shut off early) and clean the idle air control valve.(which should regulate idle air flow, eliminating the need for playing with the pedal) The valve itself is not difficult to service, but is a bit delicate. It can be cleaned with carb cleaner. just make sure you do not turn the valve end around while cleaning, and re-install it perfectly straight. You may have a bad drain back valve in the pump, but this is less common than what I outlined above.(there are tests for this)

2001 Dodge Caravan SE 2.4L.. In cold Weather it starts then stalls and dies...?

Inlet air temperature sensor, also known as throttle body temperature sensor, will do that. Don't go changing TPS, or IAC, as suggested in other post. If they work good in warm weather, they should do the same in cold. Air inlet sensor tells system how much fuel to deliver according to temperature, as engine needs more fuel the colder it is when starting.
