It should only go in one way. One end has a plastic tip that should prevent it from going into the line completely. Thats the end you pull it out with. Generally the short end goes in first.

The orifice tube is located at the firewall, INSIDE the refrigerant line, where the end of the flex line connects to the metal pipe which, in turn, connects to the evaporator coil inside the air exchanger.
Should be in the pressure line, usually where the tube goes into the firewall. Take that nut off the tube, its in the cavity there where it is going into the cooling unit.
evacuate the a/c system,separate the high side line where the orfice tube is located,pull the old tube out of line. lubricate the new orfice o-ring with a/c oil,push into the line,reconnect the line be sure to replace the o-rings at the connection.pull a vacuum on the a/c system for at least 30 minutes,then recharge the system.
For a 2002 ford expedition the ac orfice tube is located in the evaporator core, remove the lower line to core and look inside , using a needle nose pliers pull tube out. heres a picture of the orfice tube, take note of which way the tube comes out and make sure the new one goes in in the same direction, good day.
I would suggest leak testing it you can take hose with clamps to the outlet and put a psi gauge on it then hook a compressor to the other end with a hose with clamps. This will show you if you have any obvious leaks you dont need alot 10psi and hold as long as you would like atleast a min you can also spray it with soap bubles to be sure. the condenser if its not leaking would be fine with a flush.
the a/c orfice tube if thats what you want it will either be in the inlet line going into the condenor or it will be the hose from condenser to accumulator
the orfice tube goes in the high pressure line, that is the small line near the accumulator, disconnect that line and the orfice is in the accumulator inlet tube, u may need an extra long nosed needle nose pliers to extract it.
