I recently changed the oil and spark plugs on my 98 Nissan Maxima; now I have an oil leak and have just recently developed a misfire on cylinder 1. I checked the oil pan plug and filter, Neither appear to be the source of the leak as seal around the Filter and the plug are not pooling oil and the leak seems to be coming from higher up the backside of the block. The Number 1 Cylnder spark plug is also wet from oil. I am getting codes 0301 (cylinder 1 misfire), 0325 Knock sensor, 1448 evap canister control valve and p0440 evap small leak.
SOURCE: Nissan Maxima shook and then turned off while at red light
the air flow sensor usually gives problems .and a other thing are the idling solenoid also gives problems
SOURCE: I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima with a cylinder #3 misfire
if our coil is sparking and good plug ive seen manny time carbon loose and sticking on the valve valve stay open doesnt build up compression = missing check our coil if its firing go on the road rev the engine like leave it in 2nd gear drive like that overreving the engine might loosen the carbon dont rev it to mush it cost nothing to try that and it work for me a few time pierre
SOURCE: 1997 nissan maxima. small oil
sea foam makes an additive for reconditioning seals in the engine(rear main included)....cost about twelve dollars....use according to directions on package...then sell

UPDATE: Checked the resitance on the cylinder one coil and compared it to the cylinder 3 coil, whch was not misfiring. This showed ththat the #1 coil was bad. Replaced it, now the misfire is corrected, which was my main concern. The SES light is still on, but I believe now it is due mostly to the summer gas mix around here, as it stayed on all last summer and most of this one too and would only go out if I used higher octane fuel. I am going to test that theory next fillup.
You had 2 Evap Codes so fix the small leak & other evap issue or misfires will continue
Checking resistance on a cop ign coil won't do much for you. You get lucky & just happened to pick the bad coil
I hope you realize things are going your way which is good. But no OBD2 Code tells you anything is wrong. Items need to be component tested. You will get codes that will be the wrong cylinder or even professional scan tool software won't show misfires in Mode #06 ,so if that ever happens you may want to try & get me vs: the sites general question section I will tell you how to resolve those issues at home
