Find a used mirror which matches your car, this is done by searching on eBay, craigslist, and local junkyards which are also now called recyclers. Google and Phone book. You have to do this yourself. When you have located a matching mirror take it around to at least 3 local body shops and ask them for an estimate to remove the remnants of the old one and install your replacement. There is some skill and special tools are required to take the door apart and reassemble it without collateral damage. Stay away from the Ford dealer on this.
If this is like the Lincoln mirror (which I think it is) it will operate separately of anything (there no control module) as long as it is fed power. So the answer is yes.
If it has high/low beam switching that will be a trick to figure out but it is possible. You will need the wiring diagram for both cars and a test light to probe the new car and possibly a switching relay.
You Must Remove the Door Trim Opposite the Mirror And There are 3 10mm Bolts there remove them and Disconnect the Plug (FOR Electric) Reverse Procedure For Install.
MOUNTING BOLTS MAY HAVE RUBBER PLUGS HIDING THEM
the red tube goes into upper coweling amost directly above the the left corner of engine ,it is hard to get on,use mirror or small hands. below fresh air grill and wipers.almost straight up from where it originates on engine.
Although I am not there to do a hands on diagnosis, the most I am able to do is diagnosis thru the email, so here goes. I would purchase a new headlight switch.
I have seen them heat up and then short out.
What you want it is the most direct route to your problem and nothing can go pass the headlight switch unless it allows it.
Unfortunately, automotive electrictricy is the most to diagnosis from a distance. Hope this helps.
