1990 Park Ave drivers seat recliner motor

I have a 1990 Park Ave. All the seat motors work, except the tilt. It will tilt back, but will not come back forward. We are driving with a pillow in our backs because we feel like we are laying in the back seat. How an I make the recliner motor move the seat forward just one time to bring the seat to the upright position?

You must remove the motor, move the seat to the desired position and then reinstall the motor to lock the seat in the position.

SOURCE: 2000 Park ave - power seat problem

The electric adjustment motor has a drive-gear that engages a gear on the shaft of the adjustment screw (90 degree engagement). The gear on the adjustment shaft looses a tooth. Adjustment motor whines, drive gear on adjustment motor spins, no action though because of missing tooth. A 12mm 1/4" drive socket on a wiggler (universal) on the end of a 6" extension can engage the not on the end of the exposed large adjustment shaft and, as the shaft is lightly loaded and the electrical switch engaged, one can get the shaft to spin almost one revolution at a time until the seat is high enough. It is hard to reach the nut necessary (inside the dull-grey clevis that the shaft threads into) and I had to take off the seat pad by removing the 4@ 13mm nuts (and 3 @10mm nuts holding the center section with the driver's cushion) to more-or-less easily access the situation. Dealership wanted well over $1000. to fix it. Three out of my 4 up and down adjustment motors are running, but don't adjust. PS, on my 2001 Park Avenue on each seat there is one adjustment motor for the front edge up and down, one adjustment motor for the rear edge up and down, one adjustment motor for the seat fore and aft, and one adjustment motor for the sear back tilt. Lots of complication, not so much on durability. We do not swap out drivers and adjust the seats excessively. Weak design on the one internal gear. Manually adjust it, unplug the electric to the motor, Drive happy again.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 Buick

believe it of not the seats are cable driven there is a series of motors under the seat that have cables attached to them that goes to a series of transmissions, best guess is that the cables are broken that is why you hear the motors and nothing happens, remove the seat and turn it over and you will see the cables.....GOOD LUCK

2013 Jetta Volkswagen Sport wagon right front seat don't recline

Did you check the fuses before you started taking your vehicle apart? Sometimes it is a simple fix and not a major job. On a 2013 model it is unlikely to be the seat motor as the motor isn't worked hard, (like a starter motor), so they tend to be reliable and can last the life of the car. Have any other features stopped working, things like the heated seats if they are fitted? This can suggest it is a fuse as some features share a fuse.
There will be a motor in the seat, however, it is likely to be built into the actual frame of the seat so it may be positioned behind an area of fabric. The tilt motor will be directly connected to the pivot the seat tilts on. Check in the lower section of the seat back and the rear edge of the seat base. The motor itself won't be very big. It will be about the size of the cardboard tube in the middle of a toilet roll.

Ford 2008 expedition, power drivers seat won't recline, but everything else works.

Power Recliner
The driver seat has an electro-mechanical backrest adjuster. The backrest adjustment switch is located on the side of the seat cushion side shield and is part of the seat control switch. The recliner motor is mounted to the backrest frame. Power recliners and motors are only serviceable by installing a new backrest frame assembly.

Power seat motor

Fron first principles, the reverse movement of the motor is caused by reversing power polarity to the motor. If he motor runs in one direction and not the other then it isthe switch. It is not conecting power to the reverse contact. Check.replace switch.

I am working on a replacement motor that will come with a new gear/shaft on it. I have one of my setups in the car right now and have the parts for another one ordered. I hope to make a video of the repair in a couple weeks when the parts show up. Still uses plastic gears, but these are larger, more durable gears and the swap is fairly straight forward with just a few modifications.

The first place to start would be to have the dealer or someother qualified repair shop , that has a professional scan tool read DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in the driver seat module ! The seat adjuster motors are controlled by the driver seat module through the adjuster motor control circuits. In an inactive state both of the motor control circuits are grounded within the driver seat module. In an active state the driver seat module switches the appropriate motor control circuit to battery positive voltage. The direction of the adjuster motor rotation is determined by which of the motor control circuits is switched to battery positive voltage while the other remains grounded. During adjuster motor operation the driver seat module also monitors the current flow through the motor control circuits.

Memory Seat System Components
The memory seat system consists of the following components:
• Power seat switch assembly
• Memory recall switch assembly
• Horizontal adjuster motor
• Front vertical adjuster motor
• Rear vertical adjuster motor
• Recline adjuster motor
• Driver seat module
• Driver door module
• SEAT 30A circuit breaker
Memory Seat System Description
Battery voltage is supplied to the driver seat module through the power seat circuit breaker. The driver seat module supplies the seat adjuster switch assembly with a battery positive reference voltage. While the seat adjuster switches are in an inactive state the switch contacts are closed to the adjuster switch ground circuit. When a seat adjuster switch is pressed to an active state the switch contact is closed to the reference voltage circuit. Battery voltage on a switch signal circuit indicates to the driver seat module the switch status is active. Each seat adjuster motor is controlled by the driver seat module through 2 motor control circuits. While the seat adjuster motors are in an inactive state the motor control circuits are closed to ground circuit contacts within the driver seat module. The driver seat module operates the seat adjuster motors by switching one of a motor's control circuits to battery voltage. The seat adjuster motors are bidirectional and the direction of adjuster motor rotation is determined by which of the adjuster motor control circuits is switched to battery voltage while the other remains grounded.

Memory Set/Recall Operation
The seat adjuster motors are equipped with internal position sensors. The adjuster motor position sensors are monitored by the driver seat module and are used to determine the seat position when storing or recalling memory settings. The horizontal, front vertical, and rear vertical adjuster motors use hall effect type position sensors. The hall effect position sensors are supplied with battery positive reference and ground circuits from the driver seat module. The position sensor signal circuits are supplied battery positive voltage through a resistor them monitored within the driver seat module. During adjuster motor operation the hall effect position sensor provides a single pulse for every revolution of the adjuster motor shaft. The driver seat module counts the pulses from the position sensor signal circuits to determine the adjuster motor positions when storing or recalling memory seat position settings. The recline adjuster motor is equipped with a potentiometer type position sensor. The recline motor position sensor is supplied with it's own 5-volt reference ground circuits from the driver seat module. The recline position sensor signal circuit is referenced from ground within the driver seat module. The signal voltage monitored by the driver seat module ranges from 0.39 - 4.58 volts and is determined by the wiper location on the resistor within the recline motor position sensor. The recline motor position sensor signal circuit voltage level is used by the driver seat module to determine the seat recline position when storing or recalling memory seat position settings.
The memory recall switch assembly on the driver's door provides inputs to the driver door module. Battery voltage is supplied to the memory

Power seat on drivers side of 1996 buick park ave. wont go in reverse every ting else works ok

Chances are one of the motors has gone out. There are 3 motors for each of your power seats. One controls the forward/backward motion, one controls up/down/tilt, and the third controls the reclining seat back. In my '95 model, there is one fuse for the seats under the driver's side dashboard. There should be a diagram inside the fuse panel cover denoting which one controls the seats. Hope that helps!
