I have been working on a truck repair for my son to have a vehicle. the vehicle is made out of three trucks. I am wanting to use the BCM, PCM and IPC from the vehicle that the drive train is out of. when I put it in the truck , the truck will not start, when I put the other one in , it does. does the BCM need to be programed? Thanks STeve
SOURCE: how do you reprogram your BCM on a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
Sounds like the BCM is either defective or needs reprogramming. Since you are combining 3 trucks, were all working well before they became parts vehicles? In a collision, the electric wiring to the BCM may have been smashed and with "crossed" wires may have been erased or shorted.
You would swap BCM's and use the driveable one to get to the Dealer for reprogramming or Autozone, Advace, or Oreilys for a free scan.
