My 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport quit beeping today when using the remote lock (FOB key). I checked the doors and they are locked and I noticed the lights blink when I press the lock button on the remote and I tested the alarm button and it works as well. Can anyone help me figure out what to do to fix?
OK. Went through this just now. It's in the owners manual page 2-7.
1. Press the LOCK button on the remote for 4 to 10 seconds and press the UNLOCK button during this time.
2. Release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time.
This is done without the key in the ignition.
HI Kemp you might have too reprogram your key fob

Try to remove interior trim (plastic) on rear door panel from inside the vehicle to access metal access panel and get to door actuator rods to get door open for further repair.

Hi! Its your lucky day! I have programming instructions right here! Under your steering column u will find ur DLC (Data Link Connecter) Its the data port that dealers and garages use to hook up to their computer. You will need a wire (jumper wire) that is thick enuff to carry a low voltage. And ground wire to bare piece of metal. ok here are the instructions MAKE SURE IGNTION IS SWITCHED OFF!
1) Jump DLC terminal 1 and ground.
2) Within 10 sec.. switch ignintion to ACC position and then back to OFF 3 times.
3) Doors should lock and unlock to confirm registration mode.
4) Press and release remote transmitter LOCK button
5) Within 10 sec Press remote transmitter LOCK button twice. Doors should lock and unlcok to confirm registration. If registering 2 remotes within 1 minute carry out button procedure for additional transmitters. Doors should lock and unlock to confirm registration
NOTE: to exit programming mode: switch ignition to ON. Also a MAXIMUM of 2 transmitters can be programmed at a time.
If
the remote s faulty then key fob will not get programmed.
Insert
the key in ignition. Turn the key to on position, and cycle the key three times
off-on-off-on-off-on. Then with the key fob remote select your remote and then
try to operate the vehicle with remote.
These
are just the basic procedure, but sometimes it will not help.
On
that case dealer is the only option.

This is just so weird because the lights blink as always when I press the lock button on the remote & I can hear it lock but no horn. Anyone with suggestions would be great!
If you're remote does in fact lock and unlock the doors then don't try to re initialize the remotes! Try my instructions below carefully. It may take a few tries.
