It's called a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), you can test them with a multimeter. If it won't idle, usually because the IAC is plugged off or inoperable, or possibly the TPS is not working.

Simple test
start the engine and apply the hand brake place in drive
if it idles ok , put your foot on the brake
if it plays up , replace the brake booster as there is a vacuum leak that is up setting the air mixture
in any event before taking what others guess , always have the fault codes read as that will point in the right direction

94 honda accord lx, has a code 14. Changed the IAC valve and it went away. Drove it around on highway and stop and go traffic, worked great, just started it again and the code 14 is back and car shut

The code is for a faulty idle air control valve, or faulty computer.
The computer can not control the idle speed by using the valve.
Could be a wiring problem, vac leak, or computer issue.

1992 Honda Accord wont start when cold out Fires but wont stay running

this could possibly be an iac or idle air control valve issue. the iac valve controls the amount of air that bypasses the throttle body in order to maintain proper idle, and is mounted on or very near the throttle body on the intake manifold. check the connector to ensure it's tight and the connections are clean, not corroded. i'd recommend replacing the iac valve.

I have a 92 honda accord ex that the it idles go

If it does that when the engine is warmed up (full operating temp.) it may be you iac valve, or your fast idle valve. They get gummed up. It also could be your PVC valve, but probably not.:

accord8.jpg
IAC in red. Fast Idle in yellow. Your PVC valve is plugged into the valve cover (the black hose in between the red and yellow in the picture) it simply pulls out. It should rattle when shaken.
Hope this gives you a start on the problem.

Crank and start but wont stay on

bad ignition, air flow sensor that keeps leaning out the mix and it stalls, bad iac idle control motor, start with a good tune up.cap rotor, wires plugs air filter and clean the throttle body.some honda cars have bad egr valves and the intake manifold has to come apart because it is plugged up inside with carbon.

91 honda accord cut off

Here are the most common causes of surges, stalls at stops, low erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

Honda accord 1900

Well for the person in florida, if you have high idle even when it's warm out then that may be that there is carbon build up on the throttle body/throttle plate and it's causing some hight idle which is known to happen a lot on older toyota's especially. If u open the throttle plate and spray carb cleaner in there and wipe away the carbon deposits with a rag and make that area shiny u may see a difference.... As for the other person in Indianapolis, if you're having the problem during the winter then that is probably the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve which is connected to the intake manifold. If this gets build up of carbon and starts to make the valves stick in that IAC it could cause some irragular idle problems like as u described. I had a very similar problem in my 92 Acura Integra and I replaced the IAC and the problem went away, but i also know that u can sometimes spray inside the IAC with brake clean or carb clean and u may sometimes be able to free up the valves and fix the situation and be fine for a while, tho it may not be a perminate fix; however u will at least know for sure that was the problem..hope this helps u both, good luck

92 honda accord engine problem

You may have a vacuum leak at the intake. Spray some WD-40 along the intake while it's running. If the car's idle changes you have a vacuum leak there. Replace the intake gasket. Your IAC valve (Idle Air Control valve) could be acting up as well.
