Belt noise My belt makes a squeeling noise at different times. I replaced the power steering pump, tension pulley, and belt. Belt still makes noise even after all that was replaced.

This may be a belt alignment issue, check the relative position of all the pulleys to one another, there may be a recall on this issue, contact your local dealer.

The power steering belt and the timing belt are two different belts and I doubt the timing belt is the squeeling belt if it only squeels when you make turns. From my experience if its squeeling only when you make turns chances are the problems going to be in the power steering pump itself.Get back to me and let me know thanks.

93 Diamante making clanking sounds under the hood. From fairly quiet to fairly loud. Sounds like it's coming from the belt area, a/c ciompressor area of the car.

This could be caused by different things. It sounds like it may be your timing belt though. If you remove your drive belts (alternator, power steering and air conditioner belts), and then restart the vehicle, if the noise stops, then spin the pulleys you just removed the belts from, to see which one is making the noise. If the noise does not stop, then it is most likely the timing belt tensioner making all that noise and you will need to have the timing belt and associated parts, idler pulley/s, tensioner, water pump and seals replaced. Hope this helps. Have a nice day :O)

When i put my belt back on my 98 mercury grand marques it started making squealy noise when the car is on

I am assuming your talking about the serpentine belt, you need to check all the pulleys that the serpentine belt rides on, P/S, alt. ider pulley, A/C, tensioner. water pump, if everything seems good, put the belt back on and locate where the sound is coming from, use a wood dowel to hear exactly what is squeeling.
check the power steering fluid.

The belt in my 01 Dodge Dakota squeals badly. Started when I had my power steering pump replaced. I tried changing the belt and the tensioner, but still squeals. Is it possible the pulley on the power...

excess mechanical drag from the pump can cause the belt to slip and squeal, but before focusing on the pump I'd check the condition, tension and alignment of the belt. I might even try cleaning all the pulleys with an aerosol brake cleaner and install a new belt, particularly if the current one has more than 50,000 miles on it. It might be that the squeal is coming from or caused by a different belt-driven accessory.
A more typical noise from a power-steering pump is a high-pitched whine, not a squeal. Usually, if the steering wheel is stationary, meaning that the steering rack is not "asking" for assistance from the high-pressure fluid from the pump, there's little or no noise

I at about 89K on my '04 Jetta TDI and had the same issue. I was due for my 90K service to I took it to the VW dealer. They replaced the power steering pump and belt tensioner. This is the second tensioner that I have replaced this year. Thought the first one went out just because. Now it seems that the power steering pump was the cause. With both fixed, I have no scream and rattle from the engine. You might want to have both checked/replaced on yours. I'll let you know if the noise comes back. Good luck.

Squeeling belt, have replaced idler pulley, squeels when idling and turning with a/c on. Could it be the power steering pump?

Try using a very small spray of silicone spray on the belt next time you're hearing the squeal. If it temporarily stops, replace the belt. Check the p/s fluid level, if it's low it could cause the pump to make noise. Also if it's low, you have a leak, check all lines, connections and pull back the bellows boots on the p/s rack (if rack and pinion). Finally, pick yourself up a mechanic's stethescope, good tool for diagnosing accesory noises. Listen to all components while duplicating the noise.

Engine noise on area of pulleys and sometimes engine tries to sto

Don't know if this helps. Had squeel in belt area. Occasionally engine would stop when squeel got loud and sometimes engine would try to quit while going at various speeds. Found tensioner pulley was bad and changed it. Still squeeled and engine would stop when squeel got loud. This time while sitting in yard. Further checking found binding in power steering pump. Will be putting on new one tomorrow. Hope it works. Will update.
