I have a 1999 dodge grand caravan, and I was having the same problem, but not only was I loosing not only the speedometer, but the tachometer as well. the locks were going crazy, lights on the dash flashing on and off. the problem was a fairly simple fix...... All I did was replace the alternator and battery. The alternator was not charging the battery, so there was not enough power getting through the vans computer to tell it (the computer) the right thing to do. I also had the service engine son light on and when this light was on it ran really really rough. Once I replaced the alternator and battery, this fixed all my problems. It's running great now!! Not saying that this will help your problem, but it sounds like the same as what I had going on. Hope this helps you out.

A solenoid is not likely however, a bad wire on the Transmission Control Module could be. The probability of this being the problem increses if you have had to drive in a lot of high water or extreme heat situations. Before you have the transmission rebuilt have the TCM tested and check for wires that may have worn spots on them that are allowing an unexpected ground.

2001 Dodge Grand Caravan, ABS light stays on now, Diagnostic check identifies Power Train Control Module (P0192 ?). Is there anything prior to taking it to a service center that I can check or replace?

P0192 is a Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input. A sensor could be faulty, or have a wiring problem. If the engine is running smoothly, you can try clearing the code and see if it returns.

2000 dodge neon, was driving, engine killed, lights and speedotermer still worked, slowed to a stop, then the odemeter numbers went away and then said FUSE, when car stopped, lights and all still worked,...

I had this happen to me getting on the highway one day. I ended up replacing every fuse in teh panel and the ECM to get it running again. I don't believe it was an ECM problem, it looked like the company I had install an alarm in the car had not spliced a wire in properly and that wire came free and shorted the main fuse bus to the ignition circuit. By a mix pack of fuses, about $3, and replace every fuse in the panel and see if that corrects the problem.

no fuses for that. on this model, i got a 2000, there is an input and an output speed sensor on the transmission. check for loose/broken wires and connection there first. then test sensors if the problem is not resolved yet. they transmit the signal to the computer that returns it to the speedometer

Why does the speedometer on a 2001 dodge caravan fluctuate when in drive?

The likely cause(s) could be a bad speed sensor or speed cable. You may also check for damage wiring as well.

Abs light, trac light, service engine soon light 2001 Pontiac Grand Am

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.

Dashboard lights were out, was told to replace the dash. Will this change the odemeter reading to the used dash or will the van retain it's true milage.

If all the lights went out at the same time, it most likely a bad wire connection behind the dash. I would check that first before you replace the whole dash.

a speed sensor will prevent the trans from shifting if the odemeter isn't working because if the speed sensor is bad and the odemeter and speedometer isn't working the trans has no ideal what gear to be in
