It's the lever for the adjusting the back of the seat. It's a cast of some sort and broke off in my hand. Can this piece be replaced? What kind of a job is it to do this?

This is a common problem and you can buy a new handle at O'reilly's that will slide over what is still sticking out of the seat and tighten with a set screw.

Time to replace that switch. The rocker inside maybe coming apart. If you find this helpful, please post as such. TY

What you need to do is under the drivers seat you will see the motors for the power seats. There should be 4 motors. One for front and back, two for tilt, and one for up and down.If you don`t have memory seats then you need to disconnect the connector at one of the motors. These are 2 wire connectors. While looking under the seat work the front and back motor so you know which motor is working, this way you can eliminate this motor.Disconnect one of the other ones and hook up a test light between the 2 wire connector and work the the switch for one of the directions that does not work.If the test light comes on then the motor is bad.Do the same for the other motor that does not work.If you not have power to the motors then the switch is bad.Let me know what you come up with.Good luck.

sound like the latch has failed and will need to be replace
however, you can try this...
with an assistant, have them push and pull on the top of the seat while you try to move the #1 lever
If you are successful then make sure you lube the latch well before locking into place again.
use a premium lube like white lithium and what ever you use AVOID 10w40 for it will not help in the long run

Probablyt because the little wire cable that activates the release mechanisms on both sliders is broken, and therefor only allowing only one slider to release when you activate the seat adjusting lever, and leaving the other one engaged, preventing you from moving your seat. This is relatively easy to diagnose, if you know what to look for... Just try to see what all moves when you press your lever. See if there is a wire cable that is activated anywhere under your seat it should be relativley close to your lever and run across the open space to the opposite slider.
