no recals but if you are the oreginal owner you have untill 2010or 80,000 miles before the warranty runs out, and if you are past that I bleive you will need a T.C.M transmission control module.

Where is the interlock switch to get my 2005 ford freestyle out of park it's stuck

hey! Jasmine first check that the fuse for the brake lights is not blown there's a safety thing that will not let you shift out of park if the fuse is blown /// next if O.K. you must check the brake light switch on the frame where the pedal is under the dash if lights are working then the interlock switch is on the steering column here's the connector that you'll look for

but is the shift lever very loose if it is try to push it forward and all the way to the left and it should start was somebody yanking on the shifter trying to get it out of park without there foot on the brake they could have broken the shift tube so the transmission is not all the way in park and the neutral safety switch is stopping you from starting because now it's not in the right position

2004 mercury mountaineer got lock in park today,, got it undone. Noticed it said check fuse for the breaks.. I had no break lights.. well, can't figure out which fuse that is.

BRAKE LIGHTS AND SHIFT LOCK
Look under the dash, on the brake pedal arm. There are one or two switches that activate brake lights and/or shift unlock. Check for loose mounting nut or a missing rubber nubber. Is the brake pedal coming all the way back up? Look on the floor for something not usually found there. These switches are adjustable and it may be as simple as adjusting them. Have a helper look for brake lights on and shift lever unlocked while you push and release the switches with your finger. Depress the brake pedal to get it out of the way. Remember to set the park brake first. Could just be a bad switch or loose connector. Check fuses and the bulbs. Is shifter fully in Park?

My 2005 Altima is stuck in park. Automatic transmission, low miles starts right up and steering wheel is not locked. Help please!!!

http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/2005-2006-nissan-altima-se-r-discussion/225903-shift-lock.html

your owner's manual will tell you how to over-ride the shift lock. ususally there is a hole covered by a plastic piece, next to the shifter. pop out the cover and push the button to shift. The shifter will lock back up in park until you fix the problem. You may want to set the parking brake and use neutral when you park the car instead of " Park". That way you will not have to push the release button-it will eventually break.

make sure your brake lights work; as the shift lock is powered by the brake light fuse-replace as needed.

1997 TOYOTA 4RUNNER SR5 WON'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK

I had the exact same problem. It is the fuse for the brake lights ( a red 10 amp fuse) that is blown. It was the wiring in the trailer that caused it to blow. Replace that fuse and it will work perfectly!!

1997 TOYOTA 4RUNNER SR5 WON'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK

You have a blown fuse for the brake lights. The shifter will not come out of park if the brake lights do not work. The crusie will not work, either. I will bet that there is a short in your trailer wiring, and it popped the brake light fuse. Easy to check; get in, start it up, push the brake. If there are no brake lights, the fuse is your problem. Please respond if this helps. Thnaks for choosing FixYa.
