I got a 2003 Toyota Corolla LE as certified used car from Glendale Toyota three years ago. Today, its got around 102500 miles and the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT just came on. I went to autozone and they diagnosed my car resulting to the P0420 code, commonly known as for defective catalytic converter. First how long will my car last without getting my car fixed? And most importantly, what will happen if I don't fix this problem? I heard a lot of people having issues of this problem returning. If I have it fixed, what do I need to do so I don't go through this problem again? Please help. Thank you!
In reality nothings happen, and your saying what do you need to do so you will not encounter this problem again well honestly you cant depend on life on catalytic so i suggest to do your general tune up like changing spark plug, wires, check timing, fuel filter, oil change the way they should be change so it helps the engine burn near stoichiometry because during the oxidation happening in your catalytic if your engine rich or lean or misfiring it could cause a defective catalytic converter.
