Ignition is turned off with radio playing. when the driver door is opened, the radio should turn off. It does not

Actually this is the answer, well at least it fixed my problem and for others reading before you go to dealer or buy replacement anything check some wires first.. first my unlock button didnt work driver side, then driver side window quit working and then radio wouldnt shut off..the equinox doesnt have a push button sensor its inside the hinges so its not the sensor...if you open your driver side door and in the jam look for the rubber boot....loosen the rubber boot from the door and from the frame of the car so that you can examine the wires inside there....to my surprise 4 of my wires were ripped in half and 2 of them had previously had an attempt to repair with crimps...so check your wires before you do anything else if your having any of the problems that I was having! Hope this helps, no where did I find the answer I was looking for on any forum, hopefully this is the problem and its a quick fix, just seems like it may be a problem that will continue to happen!

more than likely one of these is bad: 1. GAUGE Fuse (I/P J/B No.1)
2. Integration Relay (I/P J/B No.1)
3. Door Courtesy Switch (Driver’s)
4. Wire Harness

Door jab switch is bad,it is in the door latch.
SOURCE: radio will not turn off
U have a driver door defective courtesy light switch, this sytem has what is called delyed exit, it keeps all the accessories on until one of the door is opened, driver or passenger front will turn it off, so if the passenger front door shuts the radio off u need to replace the switch.

Ron, can you give me more info on the 'jab' switch? I do not detect a swithch on the exterior of the door latch. Does the inner door panel have to be removed? I do see a round rubber (the size of a quarter) that is possibly a switch of some sort above the door latch????
Is there a access plug to check voltage or continuity?
