Have had the fuel pump relay replaced (Could this burn out in two weeks?)
It starts but then drives for 30 secs (or it could be ten minutes or twenty minutes) and cuts out when driving say 20 - 25 miles per hour.
When I try to restart it starts ok but the rev counter drops immediately and it cuts out. This can happen 15 times before the start will be maintained and then it can happen slowing for a traffic light five
minutes later.

You could have a defective fuel pump, when they go bad they can draw enough current to fry the relay contacts, so I would suggest you test how many amps the fuel pump is drawing, I have fixed this very issue of repeated relay replacements, it was always the pump was shot.

I passed your comments on to my mechanic who dismissed them at first. Three days later he phoned me to say he had replaced the fuel pump and the relays and a month later (fingers crossed) all is well. Thank you so very much for helping us and enabling me to drive again with confidence. Without your advice we would still be struggling. You deserve your Guru status. I'm very grateful.

It is mounted on a valance over the kitchen window. I have tried various positions from plumb to at least five eights inch out at the top. I am very mechanically minded, but this has me stumped.
