No, it is in front of the fuel tank right behind the tranny crossmember support somewhat hidden by a metal cover. Easy to see if you just look near the middle of the truck - under the where a back seat would be if you have the 4-door model.

Your 2012 Nissan Frontier's fuel filter is located inside the fuel tank, so it's part of the fuel pump housing. There is no external fuel filter for you to replace
you need to drop down the spare tire, then look up and see it by the passenger side rear shock absorber... plastic rectangular box with the evap vent control valve bolted on it
If you engine is a 2.4 liter it's on the passenger side center of the engine compartment, the hoses from the fuel filter conncts to the throttle assembly . You may have to remove the air filter housing to see it. It is a round canister hoses held on with fuel line clamps. hope this helps
Thank you for your follow up. I fixed my problem by finding a hard working mechanic, not a dealership. When I got 3 estimates on replacing the PCV and the Fuel Filter on my 2003 Nissan, there was a $59 difference between the high and low bid. Obviously took the low. Thanks again! Postit2
