Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the cigarette lighter on your 2004 Grand Prix:

  1. Check the fuse: The cigarette lighter is powered by a fuse, and if it's blown, the lighter won't work. Check the owner's manual to locate the fuse box and determine which fuse controls the cigarette lighter. Replace the fuse if it's blown.
  2. Check the wiring: If the fuse is fine, check the wiring between the cigarette lighter and the fuse box. Make sure all connections are clean and tight.
  3. Check the cigarette lighter socket: If the fuse and wiring are fine, the problem may be with the cigarette lighter socket itself. Unplug the cigarette lighter and inspect the socket for any damage or debris. Clean the socket and re-insert the cigarette lighter.
  4. Check the cigarette lighter element: If the socket is fine, the problem may be with the cigarette lighter element. These elements wear out over time and need to be replaced.
  5. Check the cigarette lighter switch: If the cigarette lighter element is fine, the problem may be with the cigarette lighter switch. It might have failed, or the contacts may be dirty, check the switch and see if it is functioning properly.
If you are not able to fix the problem after trying these steps, it is best to take your car to a qualified mechanic or an auto-electrician who can diagnose and repair the issue.
Please note that working on car electrical systems can be dangerous, so it's important to follow safety precautions and make sure you are familiar with your vehicle's electrical system before attempting to fix it yourself.

not told are you smoke (last one doing it?)
or using it for charging cell photo
or using a crazy car space there there and blows the 25amp fuse ever time. gee can't guess usage can we. (vast)?
it's just to fuse, 10 year later posters.
    just a fuse
if still confused ask where it is.
it is in the fuse box.(engine bay)
    service manual (facts /hard)
    Cigar Lighter/Power Outlet Schematics
under hood (bonnet in UK) fuse box.
forget the word CIG, the fuses both are called aux power outlets 1 front , 1 rear
    aux pwr fuse10
front and rear on just 1 fuse
the fuse goes direct to the battery. so is hot all the time so if car runs and drives (not told)
then it can only be 3 things
    bad fuse F10
    bad aux socket
wires from f10 to socket bad. cut, rusty or whatever damaged, socket packed up in ashes.

the most simple circuit on any car is this.
cave man simple in fact. ( Jules Gabriel Verne )

if are smoking, using wrong lighter?
lighter bad/ buy new one? best is stop smoking.

The lighter socket or the element.
Check the element for burn marks and the socket for debris blocking the contacts.

SOURCE: where the cigarette lighter fuse in car 2005 grand

i just had to change mine. It is under the hood, on the passenger side. Its located in a black box that has either a lightning bolt on it, or says fuses. the box is near the battery if that helps. When you open it, it will be labeled as "Auxilery Power" or "Aux Power"on the diagram located on the inside of te box. It is a single fuse. It was confusing on mine because there were two things labeled "10", but it will be a thin, probabily yellow fuse that says 25 on it. Dont get it confused with the big square grey thing on the left side. You might even have a spare fuse if you check the diagram.

SOURCE: Need to locate fuse box

its probably on the end of the dash where the driver side door butts up to it.  Otherwise under the driver side dash or in the glove box.

If fuse is good on cig lighter in still not working what can it be 2005 grand prix

but still no power to cigarette lighter ? How do you know, did use a voltmeter an test for battery voltage ? Or just pushed in the cig lighter an it doesn't heat up ? How did you check the fuse , just look at it ? They can be bad but look good . See the 2 metal tabs on top of the fuse , you can use a voltmeter an test for battery voltage at both tabs. Does it have battery voltage ? Or the lighter element is bad or the socket it self is ?

1991 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. I need the fuse box diagrams please. I bought the car used and it didn't come with any of the covers.

Question edited for clarity.

If all of those are blown, you are in for a whole lot of heartache! Cigarette lighter overloaded, easy fix. Blower motor, probably the resistor, fairly easy fix if you can get to it. Windows, relays, or if only on drivers side, broken wires where door meets frame.
