My daughter has a 2004 Spectra that all of a sudden won't go in reverse. It was driving fine and then this started. She also is saying that it doesn't seem to be accerlerating properly but that started after the issue with it not going in reverse. We bought it used and have had to have the catalytic converter replaced, fuel pump replaced and now this. My daughter drove the car from Memphis to Nashville for school with no problems. 2 days later she was out to eat and the car would not go in reverse. She was able to drive forward just fine. Then a couple of days later she tried to drive it and she said it doesn't seem to be accerlerating properly. Please help!
Sounds like you need to take car to transmission shop.

it may be the ignition switch itself. If it is a manual transmission it could be the clutch safty neutral switch located on the clutch pedal.

sounds like the electronic speedometer cable, look around the trans for any wiring that may have gotten burnt

When you put the car in gear, do you feel it trying to move in any gear? usually if one gear goes you still have the others. I would make sure the shifter linkage is hooked up and in the right position. Not saying the trans could be bad but it's a lot cheaper to check the other (possibilities) before the trans. and torque convertor. I would even try changing the fluid and filter.

COULD BE BAD FUEL PUMP RELAY.SCAN IT FOR FAULTY.SCAN FOR FAULTY CRANKSHAFT SENSOR OR PCM CODES.
