SOURCE: transmission fluid for 2007 pontiac G6 GT

This car does not have a auto trans dipstick, the level can only be checked by the dealer, this is a growing trend that started with most German cars, the filter is inside the trans pan and only needs changing every 60,000 miles.

SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Montana Thermostat replacement

check the coolant level fiirst...if that is low it wont give you any heat.....to change the thermostat you have to follow the top radiator hose to the engine.at the send of it you will see a clamp take it loose...then you will see the thermostat housing its held in place by 2 bolts . once you remove them you have the thermostat....make sure you clean all the old gasket material off both the housing and mount.also make sure you get a new gasket.

SOURCE: Where is the fuel filter on a 2005 Pontiac Montana

The fuel ilter is under the van under the drivers side floor board mounted to the inside of the frame rail. You can replace it with basic mechanic skills.

It could be as simple as you don't have enough trans fluid. It could also be a shift actuator/solenoid. Have you checked the level of your trans fluid?

You may have a case of morning sickness. in a transmission they are seals the are bad and leak fluid past them. causing a shifting problem when cold as fluid warms up seals swell and your pressures increase allowing a better shift.

When was last time trans fluid & filter was changed? Sounds like trans filter is clogged, hopefully not badly. If it's been happening for awhile you might need trans replaced/rebuild.

2005 ford five hundred limited 2wd 6spd trans 139k miles. Recently replaced mounts thinking that would stop the trans from downshifting hard at stopping. But since the replacement the rpm will not go over...

What you might try is changing the Trans fluid and putting in a new Trans filter or cleaning the filter if it is not disposable. If this does not help before replacing parts on the Trans ask if your Model has a Software fix.

Many of the newer vehicles have computer programming to control the Trans behavior. Since changing the mounts made a difference, the old parts were obviously worn. Now you need to smooth out the shift points.

If you want to try 1 cheap part, get a TPS (throttle position sensor) which is on the Airhorn. Its function is to set fuel mix and timing advance and to communicate that to the Trans. If the Trans does not know how far the throttle is open, I can see it would not know when to shiift or downshift.

Jearking between shifts filter and fluid has never been changed 80000 miles

It sounds like you just need to service your transmission and request a transmission additive such as Trans X to be added to the transmission since there are high miles and low maintenance. This may help to prolong the life of your transmission.

Where is the dipstick located for the transmission fluid on a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire

According to the owners manual unless you drive in hilly, or heavy stop and go traffic like a taxi, you should never have to add trans mission fluid unless you have a leak. The manual doesn't even give a fluid capacity for the auto transmission. So I guess when you have to have the auto trans. filter changed, you have to take the car to a transmission specialist. If in fact the filter even needs to be changed. The manual leaks you to believe that the transmission fluid and filter are lifetime products.

Fluids

Trans axle and transmission are the same in a front wheel drive car. After 25 oil changes, the trans fluid probably should be replaced anyway, if never done yet. Pontiac/Toyota do recommend synthetic trans fluid, which is quite pricey per quart from the dealer. If you did drain the trans fluid, and didn't replace it, chances are you wouldn't be driving right now. I do wonder how oil change #26 went wrong? Not criticizing, just wondering. Hope this helps.
