Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

Need to get dash off to get to speedomiter how do i do it

I actually just did this, All you do is lift the top part of the dash straight up. You can just hold it up and there are 4 screws that hold the gauge cluster together. Then the cluster just slides right out, no wires to worry about.

Transmission on 1997 GMC Sonoma is not shifting. Speedomiter stays on (0). filter and seal replaced with no change.

Those dont have a speedo cable they have a sensor and if it is shot the transmission wont shift because it never gives the signal to do so. Good luck!

Where is the fill plug on a 1990 ford festiva with manual transmission

Stick shift normally has to be checked by a shop.It is very difficult to reach AND get an accurate reading without a lift.I have a 1995 Ford with a stick shift and take it in also.

Why doesnt my transmission make shifts speedomiter

First check the 10 amp fuse #1.

If fuse is good, speed sensor has failed or is disconnected. Check connection. If connection is good, replace sensor.

Sensor is mounted on transaxle output. It should have a 3-wire connector on it with one yellow, one orange, and one black wire, as shown in diagram below.

Please let me know if you have questions.
