Changing the battery on a remote car door opener. The remote car door opener on our Jeep 2009 Grand Cherokee stopped working. It seems to be a low battery. I read that there is a way to change the battery yourself. Does anyone know how to open the remote casing in order to replace the battery?

SOURCE: Remote on '99 Jeep Cherokee not working...

Normally you can get the alarm to shut off by puttin ght key in the ignition or in the door and turning. The remote will need programed with the vehicle. Should run about 50.00 or so for service department to do this. My wife has a '99 cherokee and it did the same thing. I know the remote is the problem.

SOURCE: Cant get 1996 jeep grand cherokee to start after alarm stopped

The alarm might have a relay to kill the ignition. Disconnect the negative or ground from the battery, wait five minutes then connect it again. This is to try and restart the alarm. Then lock and unlock the car to get the remote in sync. Try and operate your vehicle now and let me know.

SOURCE: Power windows will not work gauges speedo and tach

Check the dash for proper grounding and also check the door harness where it passes through the boot for breaks or shorting. The door may be completing the body ground through the latch.

Fob not will not open or lock even though its working

How do you know it is working?? if it wont open or close the doors, it might just be a flat battery in the remote. Try changing the battery first.

Replaced battery in remote for 2006 chevrlet corvette cnvertible and it still won't open the door or tart the engine. How can Iopen the doors and the hood so I can check and maybe jump the battery

Changing the battery in the remote won't affect the programming, and neither should a dead car battery. I am surprised there is no keyed entry on the driver's door.

Remote entry not work will not lock doors or open rear window

try changing the battery in remote. otherwise it'd be either the motor to lock them, the sensor which gets the signal from the remote or the wires may be loose or broken.

Keyless remote will not open door and I cannot open it manually

Try changing the battery in the remote first.. try a spare remote.. if not

oh dear.. ok amm you have 2 choices ... you can contact a dealer and ask them for a second remote and wait a bit for it,, or hijack your car..

To hijack

Firstly we need to open the hood ,, to to this

1.) look inside the grill for the cable u use to pop the hood, (you can also crawl under the car)
2.) trace the cable up to the lock mechanism, use a bird beak pliers or any pliers and grab the cable itself (not the shield) pull and the lock will open.. (if you cant reach or see the mech you will need to cut the cable and pull it.. (avoid this)..
In worse case,, send a crow bar up the grill or under the car,, aim it at the hood lock and hit it ,, it will pop or break.. (thats how theives do it)

Now to open the door..
1.) remove positive battery terminal (once your battery is charged and hasnt run dead) if its dead then thats why u couldn't open the door..
2.) tap the pole rapidly against the positive battery terminal (touch and lift and repeat) until the door locks open.. *preety cool way to open electronic locks" thats how thieves open the electronic ones..

If done correctly it should take you 20 seconds to get into your car..

2007 Chevy Equinox - with remote starter -- my keyless remote doesn't work...whenever i try to open the car using the remote is doesn't work...but when i open the car using the key the remote...

I had the exact same problem where I could lock the car remotely but I couldn't unlock it remotely after about 2 minutes. I was able to fix the problem by simply disconnecting the positive (red) side of the battery for a minute, and then reconnecting it.
