NO NO NO...IF ITS AUTOMATIC IT WILL HAVE A DIP STICK LIKE AN OIL DIP STICK. LOOK FOR IT THEN PULL IT OUT AND ADD. MAKE SURE THAT ITS LOW BY READING THE STICK EITHER IT WILL SAY COLD OR HOT. IF ITS BELOW COLD OR THE LINE THEN YOU WOULD NEED TO ADD. BUT REMEMBER IN ORDER TO HAVE ACCURACY ON READING THE DIP STICK U MUST HAVE THE CAR RUNNING IN PARK.

Leak visible on transmission cooler

unless leak has gotten bad enough to lower the fluid level dramatically fixing it will not improve slippage, slipping is worn clutch surfaces or low engagement pressure, (low pressure could result from really low fluid) If you fill it to full and it still slips fixing the cooler will not help, but fixing the cooler leak is a necessary item to do anyway, keeps oil out of our ground water and off the roads making them slippery for motorcyclists.

2001 trooper losing transmission fluid not find any leaks

Is it a automatic or standard if it is an auto.I would check the modulator valve on the trans, pull the vaccum line off and check for trans fluid in the line.

OIL CONSUMPTION 2002 4X4 TROOPER.

have an accredited service shop to a wet and dry compression test on the engine
That determines engine condition
have the oil pressure checked using a mechanical gauge and if the pressure is below specs that indicates worn bearings overloading the oil control rings
leaks can be rear main seal or crank shaft seal at the front where the oil is blown away in the slip stream

Ok, I replaced the radiator in my 95 Isuzu Trooper and of course had transmission fluid leakage, I filled the transmission fluid back to within specs however now the transmission will work great in first...

double check that trans fluid level with the car running at normal temp really just sounds like it is still low assuming youve not had any trans problems now if there was over heating issues with car it is possible damange was done to the trans

Is it possible for the radiator to leak fluid into the trans causing the trans to go bad on a 2000 trooper?

If you have coolant in your transmission, I would examine the transmission cooler if it is inside the radiator. I can think of no other way that could happen outside of someone pouring coolant into the transmission fill tube.

What is a torque converter and where is it located on the car. The car runs but does not catch

the torque convertor is a mechancal part of the transmission. it converts rotational motion. it is located in the trans mission. it bolts to the fly wheel. not an easy job to do. messy also. put car on jack stands.un do battery. remove drive shafts.place support under transfer case. remove cross members. support trans mission. remove transfer case. support rear of engine. unbolt torque converotr from trans mission. remove transmission. pull torque convertor out. it took 8 hours to do this on our tahoe.

1996 Trooper with pretty decent rear main leak. Can this be repaired without pulling the engine? Also not holding oil pressure, I assume the leak is the issue as I see no other problems but open to...

Bad leak at the rear main wont give you low oil engine pressure ,its sign that the main bearings are worn or the thrusts .
Check the crank pulley end float and lift first but the main can be done in place drop the gearbox and flywheel.

Yes that is true. My problem with this suv 2002 trooper 4wheel drive is that it nutralizes at stop or low speed. To move from from a stop, i will have to engage the winter drive. this is all the time. I...

winter mode engages take of in 3rd gear. sounds like you have got a serious trans problem, mainly with lower gears. Can you manually select low or 1st gear and get it?
if you can then range selector switch could be faulty(neutral saftey switch) is the P,R,N,D,2,L lighting up in instrument cluster to display what gear your in? if its not working properly then range selection switch is faulty
if these are ok more major trans internal problems
