Try unplugging you crank sensor,if you unplug it and the "no bus" goes away from your dash, replce the crank sensor,i have seen this problem ALOT on dodge, the crank sensor is on top of the bell housing between the engine and transmission and plugs into the wiring harness on the drivers side of the distributor.if you have a 5.2 ltr,the sensor is located in the transmission bell housing behind the passenger side head of the engine, hope this helps you out

Clean your negative battery cable end and battery post. The "no bus" usually is caused from a bad ground.

Toyota " Maint Req'd " Light Reset Procedure

I get many calls a week for this procedure...
This is really easy! Follow these directions:

Turn the key ON

Look at the odometer, and verify that it displays "ODO" and the total mileage traveled. If it is on "Trip A" or "Trip B", press the black stick next to the odometer to read "ODO", and the total miles traveled.

Turn the key OFF.

Press in, and HOLD the black trip meter reset button, hold it in.
DO not release it.

Turn the key ON (do not turn the key to Start)

Observe the Odometer display. The total mileage traveled will disappear, and you will see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 dash, and finally, 5 zeros. Then, the total mileage traveled will redisplay.

Release the black trip meter reset stick.

This completes the reset procedure, and it will be back on in 5,000 miles, to remind you of you next oil change
.
NOTE: Newer cars have a slightly different procedure. The reset starts on the "TRIP A" setting, as opposed to the ODO setting. Depending on the year of your car, one or the other will work.

Hope this helps!
If this does help you, a 4-thumbs rating, or a 'VERY HELPFUL' rating would be greatly appreciated.

2002 dodge dakota slt 4x4 4.7 ltr key on eng off all lights come on on the ipc then go off after 15 sec start to come on one by one then odo blinks 4x goes to no bus. Vehicle starts and runs fine no ecm...

with no bus, that is power to or from the pcm. try wiggling the 3 plugs at the pcm with the key on. if you see lights change, or hear the bing, that would most likely be the pcm.

Dakota - 2001, started, died and won't start. all dash indicators light as normal except odometer says "No Bus."

Hi, if odometer say no bus you are loosing your bus signal some were ,with out a bus signal the car not going to run the bus signal runs to every module on your truck. This could be as easy as a blow en fuse to a wire shorted out or a bad module . Depends on your know how around cars . If your not sure you should take to local shop or dealer. If i can help you further just re post.
Thanks dodge tec

No Bus Error

All the modules are connected together to communicate with each other via the PCI bus. It is possible that one of the modules is pulling the bus down.Since the vehicle won't start it could be any one of the modules. It will be a process of elimination to find the faulty one by disconnecting them one at a time. Here are a few, powertrain control module (the one you replaced) Instrument cluster, overhead console, anti-lock brakes, airbag. Since the cluster unplugged wont read anymore, just try to start the vehicle to see if that was the one. Otherwise see if the odometer message of "no bus" goes away after each one is unplugged.

This is an addition to the reset procedure, I apologize for not mentioning it:

You do NOT START the vehicle at any time during the reset procedure.
If the engine starts, the procedure will not reset.

If you do NOT see the dashes, followed by the 5 zeros, start the entire procedure again, but start with the odometer set to TRIP "A". Some vehicles use Trip A instead of the ODO.

You do NOT START the vehicle at any time during the reset procedure.
If the engine starts, the procedure will not reset.
