1994 nissan quest cigarette lighter how to remove it

First check to make sure that the cigarette lighter fuse is not blown before you attempt the replacement.

some of them dont have lighters in them. you have to insert your own.

Tire compressor probably draws too much current for the socket. Are you sure it is a cigarette lighter socket? Some sockets are just to provide accessories 12v. Did a cigarette lighter come with this socket? True cigarette lighter sockets are generally fused at 25 or 30 Amps

Just remove tire ,get a punch and hammer it to stud,be care and don't fatten end of stud,it won't come out.

Lighter sockets are held in by a sleeve that is threaded to the socket.
You can look at a new socket to get a visual. You would need to gain access to the back side of the socket to remove the sleeve and pull the socket out from the front.

maybe a bad lighter socket or wires in the back of it.
You don't have to remove the center console to check the cigarette lighter electrical connection. Just pluck the base out of the hole and you will know if it is connected properly back there ....Or replace it. Not big bucks at all :)

sometimes they separate those because one is a higher amp circuit (power outlet) versus a cigarette lighter, so check your fuses

Check the cigar lighter fuse for blown.

I troubleshot this issue and found the problem to be a defective power plug. There was no connection from the ground spade lug to the receptacle. The fix is easy. Just remove the plug, unplug the electrical connector and replace the bad unit. I found a similar one at Wal-Mart for under $6 that had a compatible electrical contact configuration.
This seems to be a design problem with the power plug. There are no visible signs of contact burn or corrosion... simply an open on the ground side of the housing.

Check behind the dash for loose wiring connections. Check for bulkhead connectors that could have possibly come partially apart. Check for any under dash grounds that are ready to break or have become frayed.
