My 92 ford explorer failed nox on calif smog test, twice. prior to the 2nd test i did a major tuneup and the nox was higher. got any suggestions?

The first test , passed at 25 mph (859), failed at 15 mph(903). The second test 4 mos later, 2 weeks after a major tuneup, failed again on both 15 mph (1088) and 25 mph (1004). It's running well, but does have a trans fluid leak. It passed smog 4 months prior to my purchase, but that smog test had expired after I purchaed it, according to dmv.

Because the nox is in the border limits, i suppose the systems in car is working good, the one that reduce nox in border limits is the catalitic converter. or you can try sea foam,in the conbustion chamber (follow intruccions in the botlle), and one sea foam in full gasoline tank drive it for one week and try again.

SOURCE: spongy brakes

Does sound like you need a new master cylinder. On a 2000 you wont need to back bleed. You will just need to follow the instruction and bleed the master and all four points. you will probably need to bleed the ABS block and proportioning valve but only if they have bleeders on them.

SOURCE: my 2003 ford taurus has oil pan gasket leak just

All you have to do is get under the car with a 1/2" drive ratchet, 3" extension, an extension swivel, and the socket for the bolts on the oil pan. Go through all the bolts and tighten them all up. You will be surprised at how loose some of them are.

1983 Ford Ecoline 150 /6cyl. Failed smog/ Egr numbers were too high How can i fix this to pass smog

Other than testing the EGR valve, not many options. You really need a 4 gas analyzer to know what is coming out of the tailpipe. Otherwise you won't know if repairs have helped the problem.
When you say EGR numbers I'm not sure what you mean. Most of the time the test is for CO and HC gases, along with oxygen and Nox also in some areas. The EGR valve allows some exhaust gas to be recycled thru the engine and reburned. CO or HC could be high if the EGR system is not working.

High nox fail smog test any remedies? 99

NOX is created when the internal combustion temperature gets to high. The egr system uses burnt exhaust gases to line to cylinder walls. The purpose of this is decrease internal combustion temperature therefore reducing the amount of NOX created.Would look to a possible egr malfunction usually they will trigger the check engine light but not always. The 4.3L has been known to have issues with carbon buil up in the egr and the egr pintle not open and closing properly.

Having a problem passing a smog test on 1996 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V

NOX is produced when cylinder temperatures exceed 2500 deg. The systems in place to reduce NOX are EGR and the catalytic converter.
If the number is only slightly higher than avg then I would suggest the EGR, make sure that any vacuum lines are attached and that the diaphragm moves freely, be sure not to damage the rubber inside the EGR.
Retake smog test, if numbers still out of range replace the cat.

My 91 Accord has failed a total of four times in two days. The converter has been changed twice in as many days. The car failed the NOx ortion of the test. The results are as follows: Test 1: Low speed...

It sounds like you need a tune up and to clean the injectors take care of all the performance issues before you even begin the smog my suggestion would be plugs and wires and 100% that it can be your O2 sensor that is why your not passing that cost about $40 to $160 at a parts store and $40 to $90 to install good luck

Failed smog

We had to have the calatic converter replaced. We did this after doing an oil change, air filter change, and new spark plugs and still hadn't passed smog. After changing the calatic converter it passed smog with scores of 25.

My ''nox'' emissions was to high on smog test?

Usually a high NOx reading on gasoline vehicles is caused by a bad catalytic converter on your exhaust. I would suggest having this checked out before you try the test again. Hope this helps.
