My 2001 Honda Accord will not start, do I need a new starter?

if all the connections are the same , then it may work if you use a scan tool to reset the newly fitted ECM

hi can you have it scan for a dtc code to know what the problem is or you can buy a diy scanner to do it your self

Guessing that you are talking about an automatic transmissio but gave you the location just incase you have a manual transmission. The 4 and 6 cylinder engines have different loctions for the automatic transmissions, I hope these pictures are detailed enough so you can tell where the location is at. It is in the transmission housing at the right rear ofthe engine compartment

disconnect the cable to the battery........there is 3 bolt holding the starter to the engine/transmission housing. You may need to remove the air intake manifold to gain access to the work area.

indicates a problem torque converter clutch servo/solenoid
check that the wiring harness to the transmission has been properly reconnected after the repairs
run the fault codes as well

Is this for a 4 or 6 cylinder engine?

If it is for the 4 cylinder, it's not that easy as the intake manifiold needs to be removed before the starter can be removed as the starter is under the intake manifold. Once the manifold is removed then it's a matter of a couple bolts and connections. It's not that quick a job.

A green flashing "S" is similar to a check engine light. It is telling you that something in or on your transmission is not functioning correctly, such as the speed sensor or shift control solenoids. If it starts flashing and the speedometer stops working or the transmission shifts weird, take it to a mechanic.
