Either stuck or release cable is broke......could be broke at release..
VW makes use of a vacuum pump and pneumatic openers and closers.The rubber on lock/release unit on the tank may be leaking or one of the pipes might be lose. Listen carefully at the flap for air noise, while someone opens and close the driver side lock. Inside the trunk, there's a manual release. Some models us an electronic lock system. Also has a manual override. Once you get the flap open. Replace actuater.

you should have an h7 bulb, once to take the rubber grommet behind the headlight, you will see the h7 socket, which has to wires in it, gently pull thi socket off, then there is a small wire holding the bulb in place, gently unhook the wire from the one side. and turn it to the other side and the bulb shoudl come out... replace the bulb putting it in the same way the other bulb came out.. notice the h7 bulb has a small notch on one side. it has to go in the same way or the wire will not hook back on. once it has been placed, turn the wire over the base of the bulb and hook it again, then put the socket back on the bulb and put the grommet back on the headlight.

There should be a cable you can pull, around the area of the fuel flap. Open your hatch and check under any carpeting or interior coverings/compartments for something to pull.

Have you tried using WD-40 to help the lock from sticking you may not need replace it.
However if you feel it's necessary ...you need to remove the inside door panel with the window up remove the two bars that are you inner lock and door handle levers a plastic clip holds them into place on the lock itself .a drop light is very helpful once the levers are disconnected remove the outer screws on the door itself the lock should fall off from the inside at this point ...install new lock and reinstall rods { levers} to the lock itself test before reinstalling door panel then secure when confident it works properly

All these components operate via the central locking control unit. Check fuses No.4, 37, 6, 3, 14. If these fuses are ok, the control unit may be faulty and need to be replaced. The control unit is located behind the right dash panel.[on right hand drive vehicle , may be else where on left hand drive vehicle.
