Is the fuel pump working? i.e. if you (with a helper) disconnect fuel line nearest the fuel pump and turn on the key, does gas spray out? Beware that the fuel will spray out very fast as it is upwards of 18PSI or more. You can also get a fuel pressure gauge from an auto parts store and use that instead and not have fuel spraying all over the place. If the fuel pump is work, check the fuel filter(s). Some vehicles have more than one. If the pump is not working, do you have voltage at the pump itself? Fuel pump is usually controlled by a relay.

1988 gmc pick up, 350 eng. 5.7,turns over but it won't start,

Do you have spark? If not I would have the pickup coil in the bottom of the distributor checked. If you have spark, you need to check for fuel pressure. If you have none, check and make sure you are getting power to the fuel pump. If you have power to the pump and it isn't running...change fuel pump. If you have spark and have fuel pressure, is your injectors operating? Back to having the pickup coil tested as this is what tells the computer to meter the injectors.

Eng will not start has spark to all plugs

There is a safety switch which cuts power to the fuel pump. It has a reset button on it. Usually this switch is behind the front kick panels or in the trunk.

There should be a test port on the fuel rail and pressure gauges can be borrowed from major parts stores like Autozone.

ENG TURNS OVER BUT DON'T START

Need to check for fuel pressure. There is a schrader valve on the fuel rail on the belt side of the motor under the upper intake. Really common for those vehicles' fuel pumps to **** out. If you have fuel check for spark. You can do that by removing a spark plug then connecting the wire back to it and leaving the plug tip near unpainted metal on the motor. Step back DO NOT TOUCH THE PLUG WHILE THE MOTOR IS BEING CRANKED and have someone else try to start the car. You will see a blue or white spark at the tip if you're getting spark. An orange or red spark indicates a weak ignition coil.

Truck will not start,no fuel pump sound with key on,getting 4volts to each pump 7 volts at reset and 12 at relay, truck has spark w/starting fluid but no fuel supply

Needs 12v to run pumps. Bad grd at pumps?. or possible bad relay try by pass relay. also some were controlled by eng oil press switch off - on try by pass and check for proper voltage. You can also by pass all devices and power pumps by 12v.

Car got gas and eng. turns over but not starting i started it a month ago and it was fine what wrong?

Could be the battery hasnt got enough power to fire it up.Take off a spark plug lead and hold it to earth to see if you have a spark.Check that you have fuel reching the cylinders could be a fuel pump problem.Listen to to see if the fuel pump is running.
