The a/c clutch sometimes kicks on when you press the a/c button switch. The green light on the switch always lights up when you turn the a/c on and the engine rpm's change as if the a/c copressor kicks in. Would the compressor relay cause this? Could it be in the control switch or could the copressor clutch be going out?

good afternoon and welcome to fixya.
just curious this may sound like dumb question but is the freon level at the proper lb level? yes i know you probably already checked this but need to ask anyways, have to start somewhere. next is there any little particles of metal shavings between the compressor and ac clutch where the two bolt together? you could have bad compressor or clutch. if all of this has been checked then need to add ac dye to system and blow through with compressed air. make sure that freon is flowing through the accumulator and the compressor head properly and through system. be careful not to put to much pressure in system, you may just have a clog line or evaporator coil and a good draining, vacuuming and cleaning of system may take care of it. you did mention the relay was changed also, after being changed was the volts and resistence checked to make sure that they are within limits? could be faulty wiring going to relay. here are a few ideas let me know where we are so i can help you more if needed, we needed to start somewhere so if you have already tried all of these then my apologizes and let me know so we can move forward. thank you for using fixya and please rate my solution. let me know what your outcome is so we can get you cool.
please rate my solution??

I don't want to be a shadetree mechanic, but, did you check the fuse(s) ?
SOURCE: My AC is not blowing
First of all check the freon pressure, if the pressure is low the compressor clutch will not turn on. The pressure should be between 30-40 PSI.
