Very possible bad alternator. Have the alternator tested before you get stranded.

YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY TRANSMISSION NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH BUT CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL MAKE SURE NOT LOW .IF ITS BEEN A LONG TIME. CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER.TRANSMISSION NEED MORE FLUID IN REVERSE BECAUSE NEED HIGHER FLUID PRESSURE TO APPLY REVERSE CLUTCH AND GEARS.

Try a can of Lucas Transmission Slip - 100M - see if that helps. Something is sticking in there. This might free it up.

Step by step instructions can be found in a Haynes or Chilton's repair Manual. You can find these at your local auto parts store or possibly Walmart.

IT IS INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION OIL PAN ---- NOT A JOB YOU CAN DO AT HOME WITHOUT A HOIST AND THE KNOWHOW

The yellow arrow up light is telling you, you have a fault with the ride height control system usually a bad ride height sensor on the back axle

I agree. Find a transmission. There is really no easy fix. Sorry.

This is a common problem with all models of volvo, with the non digital odometer  pre 1998,, there is a tiny nylon gear deep inside the odometer that needs to be replaced. Your dealer will not fix it, but will put in a new one for you as the cost of fixing in labour is more than a new one,, My solution is much cheeper,, I have
many low milage VOLVO odometer/instr clusters, a few hi'r km 1s
