1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0l lifter adjustment

I just put a head gasket on my jeep its a straight six 4L engine. I cant seem to find anything on how to adjust the lifters, and the old school way doesnt seem to work since the engine will not start (but it does backfire)

PS old school is tightening the slop out of the lifter then going 1/4 turn past, starting the engine and tightening till the clacking stops.

draw this on a paper

u start with no1 get the valves rocking which means turn engine over by hand til no 1 rockers one rocker is going up and the is going down u may have to turn the engine back and forth slowly
to see it . once u have no 1 rocking u can adjust no 6 valves adjust them with a little clearance so the push rod still spins freely

next look at chart
1 rocking adjust 6
5 rocking adjust 2
3 rocking adjust 4
6 rocking adjust 1
2 rocking adjust 5
4 rocking adjust 3

once u have made these adjustments recheck firing order 153624
try and restart engine if it starts the turn all rocker ajuster a further 1/4 of a turn and your done u may have too wait a bit of time for the liffters to bleed down after u do final adjustment if it dont start

hope it helps please leave rating and if u need more help let me know

What is the torque value for valve cover gasket on 2004 jeep grand cherokee 4.0?

4:L
page 17 engine 4L
no its 85 inche/lbs (div by 12 ) is 7 foot lbs
as you can see 7 foot lbs is hard to do on large wrench
so Jeep put dash there but 12 divided works for sure, the math.

S there a relatively easy way to replace the crank sensor on a 1995 jeep grand cherokee ?

yes and no/ year depends...
yes, if it the right engine.
no if not. (95 is exception)
but you never told what engine you have,
the 4.0L comes in 2 types, (depends on transmissions too)
one just unbolts, and put in new one.
the other must be calibrated or its destroyed,

here is the 4 versions of 4L
see figure 7, this one cant just be stuffed in willly-nillly, on many years.

http://jeepdied.com/Misfire101.html#ckp4

if its on the left, and has one hole mount, bingo, the magic
spacer, and the .030" gap. calibration.
took me calling maker of sensor to learn that magic gap.

that was for all 4L
your , offical 95 year FSM book shows this.

I have a 1993 jeep grand cherokee limited 4x4 stight 6 i went to try to adjust ignition timming one day and the time jumped on me i later figered out that u cant adjust that on this motor , i timmed it...

Do compression test first. Have you got a blocked air intake? Sometimes people put a rag over the intake tube inlet when blowing outthe air box & forget it & it gets sucked in & blocks airflow. The things I think of are straight away are Spark, Fuel, Fuel pressure, Air, Timeing, Compression

My 1996 Jeep Cherokee (4L I6) over-heated and stalled. I'm getting fuel and spark and entire engine is rotating fine, but still have a no-start condition.

Check to see if there is any water in any of the cylinders by removing the plugs and looking at them to see if they are wet.since you said it over heated you may have blown a head gasket.Once all the plugs are out crank the engine and see if water comes out of any of the plug holes if any of the plugs are wet or water does come out of the any on the cylinders you have a blown head gasket. The other thing to check is the timing make sure its still in time it might have jumped time.Good luck let me know something I'm curious.
