My sentra died.turns over but won't start.check engine light has never come on in this car, even when key has just been turned on.when key is shut off all the dash lights stay on,the check engine light glows real dim and they wont shut off for 3-10 seconds.Ive bench checked all the fuse, relays and fuel pump.cheked all wiring/connections.I turned the screw on the ecm as to put it into self diagnoses mode, check engine light came on brightly, car started and ran a few seconds and quit.I restarted it and it ran for about 2 minutes, then I shut it off.Restarted and shut off several times. Then it won't restart, had on fuel pressure and engine light was dim again and the das lights stayed on for a few seconds before they shut off.I am a retired auto tech and can't figure this one out.ECM ?
Could be any of several things. If the crank sensor is marginal and not sending pulses, the fuel pump is shut off. This is for safety. The pump is energized for a few seconds as key is turned in preparation for starting then engine must rotate normally to keep the pump on. If it stops, in a few seconds the fuel is cut off.

Hello! There isn't power to ECM pins 109 and 111 because the ECM relay is not pulling...Pins 1 and 3 (White/Black wire) are tied together in the harness and should not show a change in symptom if jumped together...Also, Pins 1 and 3 are fed battery from fuse # 36 (15A hot at all times) and both pins must read +12 volts...Pin 2 of the relay coil is the pulling ground from the ECM...Reading across pins 1 and 2 with the key in the ON position should not read +12 volts...If it does the relay coil is open...With the key on the relay would show a voltage drop across the coil...Check pins 1 and 3...must be tied together and have +12 volts from fuse # 36 (15A hot at all times)...Replace ECM relay...See photo...............Guru....Saailer...

Fuel injected or carb? Make sure fuel line itself is clear. Some pumps are designed to self regulate (carb systems) some continually pump and a psi regulator sends back the excess fuel back to the tank (fuel inj systems) If the line is obstructed then pump can't deliver fuel fulltime.
If you think pump is not on consistent, try running a dedicated wire through a switch directly to the pump. If it works then you are looking for an electrical fault going to pump. Good luck.

Make sure you have the plug wires on the correct plug. Check the
ignition timming to make sure it is correct. After running for a few
minutes pull the pluggs to see whitch cylinders are running rich. The
fuel pressure and volume need to be tested.

Additionally, try checking the power transistor. I will send the test. Also make sure the coil has a good ground...
Hope this helps; keep us updated.
