Try taking the CID/TWICE fuse out and as long as the key works mechanically in the tumbler you should be all set. They are nice cars to drive, but these stupid little security things are a big hassle and ****. I mean how many thieves out there and how frequently does a 5 year old saab get stolen? Let alone the stupid factory cassette player, which incidentally also is code protected.

I think this job is too tedious to do here, so I suggest you call an oldsmobile dealership and ask to speak with a mechanic. Customer service can direct you to where you need to go. Sorry,

Security light keeps blinking and car wont start

try this reset procedure, if it doesn't work the dealer must be consulted, there is problem with the security control module, if the module is in need of replacing the part must be programed to accept your ignition key.

PASSKEY LOCKOUT RESET ALL GM CARS 1999 AND UP
1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the PASSKEY system to recognize your key.

I replaced ignition switch on my 2001 ford explorer and now my car won't start what steps do i take in replacing the ignition

if you are sure all wires are installed correctly check fuses... also you would have to match the ignition key start pellet to the anti theft computer. your old key might not be seen as the correct key by the system.

2001 chevy venture lost key

You must get a new key from the dealer. Bring in the registration, and photo I.D. Then they will cut you a key. After that, try this procedure....
  1. With a master passkey III key (Black), turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the Security telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn off.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes.
  5. With a master passkey III key, start the vehicle. The vehicle has now learned the key transponder information and the PCM has now learned the fuel continue password.
  6. If it does not work, you will need to get it to the dealer.
