no radio told at all is it OEM Ford ? or aftermarket RAD.
doing what, ?what is he source of SOUNDS.
AM/FM /SAT, USB +mp3, BT or what?, some have cell phone 3.5mm jack inputs. and more.
no radio told so tests are crazy hard to tell.
is AM dead. or not. is antenna missing, or broken.
I GUESS that the speakers are driven by an after market amplifier. An amplifier needs to be connected to a power source that is only on when the radio is on, through a relay.
Is it a factory amplified system? Could be the volume knob. Might try unplugging the radio for test purposes and see if it still pops and buzzes to get a better idea of where to go next
Hi JPLP, A popping or 'motor boating' sound is usually a sign that one of the transistors is defective. As it happens only when tuning in the radio it is possibly in the pre amp stage. Regards John
Could be speaker fuse or fuses esp if played loud with bass turned up worst case is power transistors blown then you may as well scrap it considering cost of repair vs second hand radio. Look at wires coming out of back of radio to speakers for inline fuse holders push and twist to open. There could be a fuse in rear panel of radio. Sorry I can't tell you how to remove the radio
Im having the same problem! No pop, just a hum, and my volume dial won't adjust. Like the actual dial isn't working.
I can't use radio, cd, or aux.
Silence SUCKS.
Is it after market radio? Check connections from radio to speakers and at the speaker(s) Door slamming knocks wiring loose. Also bad antenna lead can do it also since most radios get ground from antenna.
