Toyota paseo headlights wont work

Just bought a used toyota, and when i went to get it inspected, discovered that the headlights do not work. neither brights or main lamps will turn on, however when i pull the lever that the headlight switch is located on, lights will flash on. bulbs are in working order, and as far as i can tell nothing is wrong with the headlight or headlight assembly. what could possibly be wrong? i've looked on the internet all day and haven't really found a similar problem. i'm just looking for a place to start, but a detailed explanation would be welcome.

Check the connection to your fog lights switch. Also check that fog lights switch is not faulty! Headlights and this switch are in the same circuit! The symptoms are exactly as stated.

May be a relay or fuse or a faulty switch

Do you have any idea where the relay for the headlights is located? Please be as detailed as possible. Also the fuses appear to be fine

hi they are normally in with the fuses if you have a drivers hand book it should tell you there also as i was thinking on it could be a faulty switch might sound stupid but get some one to stand in front of lights and then jiggle the light switch to see if they are flickering apart from that wiring thats where it get expensive

I have a 1992 toyota paseo have changed the fuel pump and the fuel relay and it is still blowing the 15 amp fuse for the ignigtion can figure out why. thnx for the help

You may have a blown ignition module or a short at the coil, that's where this circuit goes. What I like to do when I run into a instantly blowing fuse, is wire in a headlight bulb to where the fuse normally is. A headlight has pretty low resistance so if you wire it in place of the fuse, it will pass enough current to operate most things that the fuse is there to protect if there was no short. With the bulb in place, you can go around the car wiggling wires and unplugging devices until you see the headlight go out, that means you have removed the short circuit and likely found what is blowing the fuse.

It turns over, the radio works, we checked the fuses, all are ok, but will not start.

I would start with the distrubutor/harness/plugs. Ensure they are firing, if they are, check the fuel filter...it gets clogged if the vehicle hasn't been used in some time.

Gas idicator

it sounds like your sender in the tank is broken or disconnected. Under your bench seat in the back is the access to the fuel pump and quantity indiactor. I would inspect all the wiring to it and if thats good pull out the sender and look at it.
