How to remove alternator from 1999cadi deville

Intermittent faults are the hardest to diagnose. The only way is to find an auto electrician and his pro grade scan tool computer can record what is happening and what causes it? The first thing I would do is check all the grounds.

need to check the wiring and connections for short or damage from alt to the battery any corrosion need to remove and clean or roplace

ok this is a tuff on to get to, it is located on the front of the engine, passanger side right behind the radiator, you will need to remove the alternator from the bottom, jack the car up and put on stands then remove the radiator access panel and then you will be able to get to the mount bolts you will also need to remove the frount engine mount brackets, this is not a job for everyone a DIY person can do it but it is not eazey.....good luck

The alternator will be located in the front of the engine on the drivers side. To replace it you must loosen the idler pulley and remove the serpintine belt, once the belt is off you must unhook any wires goin to the alternater and then there are two bolts at the bottom of the alternater holding it in place. Remove those and the alternater is loose then it may take some jockying back and forth to get it out. Obviously at this point the new one can go in the same way the old one came out.

I would suggest getting a Hanes or Chilton book first because you have a lot of things to remove. Drain radiator, remove intake, fuel rail, alternator, AC and many wires and vacuum hoses before you remove the heads.

There is a plate under the car on passenger side. Remove this plate and you will be able to see the alternator. I think it has three bolts
