I recently purchased a 1995 Mercedes E320. I was curious to see if I manually locked the drivers door if all the doors would lock. I pushed the door button down, but none of the other doors locked. I then went to turn on the stereo. The stereo came on and displayed the station, but no sound came out. At the same time, the dome light came on, and the fasten seatbelt warning started to flash. Now when I shut the car off the doors won't lock automatically with the key (I did not get a remote with the car) and when I close the drivers door the dome light comes on and stays on, and the fasten seatbelt starts flashing. I have to manually turn the dome light off, then the seatbelt warning will time out. Any ideas?

you have to replace door lock completely , there is small plastic gear on electric motor which moves locking mechanism and seems that gear is broken, but it is not available as separate part.

There is a central door locking pump under the back seat, the motor has gone in it, cheap way to repair is to strip it down and put a motor in it from a tyre compreser from argos for under £10 very easy to fit just two wires

I let the car sit for a day (was too sick to work on it). When I came out and stuck the key in the drivers door all the doors unlocked. When I put the key in the ignition and turned it on, the stereo plays and the lights act normal. Guess it fixed itself.
So what was really wrong? Did you ever find out? I am having the exact same problems.
