Expedition door open light stays on most of the time.

The door open light stays on most of the time. It occasionally shuts off. If course, when it says there is a door open, the interior lights stay on unless over the maximum speed of 19 mph or so. Where are these sensors and how are they changed?

Spray wd-40 in the latch on the doors then slam them a few times to loosen the switch on the latch that turns the light on with the key in the ignition and doors close if the chime rings like the key was left in the ignition then start with the drivers door

SOURCE: Interior Lights and Door Ajar light stay w/beeping noise.

Try spraying WD-40 into the door latching mechanism (door side). I learned this fix after two battery replacements, but have only had to spray twice in the more than seven years of ownership

SOURCE: 95 ford windstar door ajar

These switches are inside the doors attached to the door latch assembles. If you know some one with a scan tool you can go into the body computer and see which one is showing open when all the doors are closed. The most likly one is the drivers side door or the two in the rear gate. I've replaced those the most.If you don't want to replace them you can unplug them and the lights will go off. Hope this helps. If you need more info let me know> Thanks Dan

Interior lights won't shut off

An on/off switch that controls your lights is stuck in the closed position. Slamming hatch unhinges it and returns it to open position where lites turn off. U have a few of those switches - at least one for each door.

Door ajar light stays on and dom light

This happened to my ford expedition many years ago. The problem was a relay that we had to change. The cost of this relay was about $20.00. After a couple of years this relay would blow out so fast that I finally gave up and just pulled it out. I don't have lights inside my truck anymore unless I manually turn them on.

DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND LIGHTS STAY ON BUT ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED

Here is THE deal. You have the same issues that I was having on my Expedition. No amount of WD-40 or wishing will fix the problem. What you have to do is remove the Drivers Door Panel and then remove the ENTIRE Latch mechanism. The latch is attached by the three black Allen screws on the door. There are a couple of levers and such that will need to be disconnected in order to get the latch to slide out. Once that is done there is a small ORANGE switch on the bottom of the latch. This is your problem. You will need to remove it and purchase a new one at the autoparts store. I found a replacement at Advance Autoparts, it was BWD - S1134 and cost $25 bucks. Reinstall everything in the reverse you removed it. Good Luck Spread the word.

98 expedition running board lights and interior lights will not turn off, then car wont start.door ajar light is allways on.

you have a bad door switch on one of the doors or liftgate. Look for push switch button where doors close on door opening. Open onedoor at a time and push button by hand and see if the lights go out. When you find the one that turns the light off, either adjust it, shim it or stick a cabinet door bumper on the soor so it psuhes the switch shut.

The door ajar light is staying on and causing the interior light and the running board lights to stay on. There is no door open

A door switch may not be working though. Try pushing each door inward while shut. If one door then turns off the lights, either glue a small spacer to the door where the switch button strikes (to push the switch further) or replace the switch itself. Good luck!

Interior lights stay on when the switch is off and car is parked

is the door ajar light on sometimes also when driving? I had a similar problem with the light staying on. I determined that it was the passenger front door latch sticking. I opened the door, then took a screwdriver to push the latch shut on the door jamb. (Make the truck think the door is shut even though it is open). Then lubricate that jamb and pull the handle open to open the door. Keep doing this (closing with screwdriver and opening with handle) until the latch works freely. This took care of my light and door ajar problem.

LIGHTS BLINKING

Check your push in button on door post or door jamb area. Use your finger or thumb & push it in, and lights should go out, as if door closed, let it out & if lights flicker, time for a new switch, or try spraying it good with contact cleaner may help.
