SOURCE: Daihatsu Sirion

I assume you are changing the timing belt. I am a mechanic and although not familiar with your vehicle, you would usually locate the timing mark on the bottom pulley and line this up. Careful not to turn the engine over too hard as pistons can strike valves. then you should look for similar marks on the camshaft pulley[s], and line these up. Then fit belt. This has to be tensiond correctly which is important. Hope this helps. Mike the bike01.

Your engine is probably an EJ-DE twin cam 12 valve.

Generally Daihatsu belts have marks on them that line up with dimples on the sprockets for the intial phasing. You rotate the engine to top dead centre on No1 piston and install the belt from there. The cams should be not be putting any pressure on the intake and exhaust valves of No1 when phased correctly.

SOURCE: heap of white smoke on startup but not always

White smoke usually occurs when there is not enough heat to burn the fuel. The unburned fuel particles go out the tailpipe and typically produce a rich fuel smell. It's not unusual to see white smoke in the exhaust during cold weather until the engine warms up.

Faulty glow plugs or control module can cause white smoke on engine start up.

Low engine cranking speed may also produce white smoke.

If white smoke is still visible after the engine has warmed up, the engine may have one or more bad injectors, retarded injection timing or a worn injection pump.

Low compression or air in the fuel system can also be a source of white smoke.

SOURCE: I need to know if my daihatsu sirion has more than one coil

Your Rocky has a 1.6L 4 cylinder it only has one ignition coil, the coil runs about $75.00 and labor to install is .5 (1/2) hr X there shop labor rate, NAPA part # for ignition coil is # IC135. At my repair shop to remove and replace ignition coil parts and labor no more then $125.00, also I think this is some thing you can do, just unscrew small coil bolts, disconnect harness ans install new one.

2008 Toyota Passo remove glove box

The Daihatsu Boon is a subcompact car/supermini produced by Japanese automaker Daihatsu since 2004, and also sold as the Toyota Passo and the Daihatsu Sirion. The Toyota Passo is sold at Toyota Corolla Store Japanese dealerships. Outside Japan, the first-generation Boon is sold as the second-generation Sirion.
If you can not find Part diagram for Passo then look for Daihatsu Sirion or Boon models.

I have to change the waterpump on a Diahatsu Sirion 1.3 2007 model. Are there any hidden problems I might encounter, or is there any special attention I need to know about? Any special tools needed?

its not that difficult just remember to loosen the pulley bolts before removing the fan belt. The belt helps to keep the pulley from turning making it easier to loosen the pulley bolts

How to fit a fan belt for daihatsu sirion 1.3 2003 model?

Should be pretty straight forward... most of the time there is a diagram under the hood of the car or in you owners manual to give you a visual. It's best to snap a picture with your phone before you remove the belt. There is a tensioner pulley that you put a wrench or socket on and either pull or push, this releases the tension on the belt, with your free hand remove the belt from pulleys, place the new belt around the pulleys just as the old one came off, again put pressure on the tensioner pulley and slip the new belt on.

Is replacement of 2007 Daihatsu Sirion 1.3 fanbelt a relatively simple task or is it for a professional mechanic only?

DO IT YOURSELF... It IS fiddly but perfectly do-able.. easiest way to do it is to remove plastic 'dirt shield' from driver's side inner wing (next to drive shaft and brake line) obviously wheel removed, or rotated is ok.. removal of modern plastic 'tat' is simple (area of cylinder head) allowing as much finger access as possible..not much room down the side of these puppies!! Next you need to de-tension the 'serpentine' belt BUT I WOULD RECOMEND DRAWING BELT & PULLEY SET UP FIRST or taking several photos.. as a reminder of if belt goes over or under (makes sense when you see it) Use blunt engineer's screwdriver (or any blunt long driver, rod, etc) to help push and pull old and new belt about.. REMEMBER TO RE-TENSION THE TENSIONING PULLEY...BUT DONT OVER DO IT!! THE BELT WILL TIGHTEN EVEN MORE AFTER SHORT RUN IN.. ALLOW SLIGHT DEFLECTION.. 6 to 10mm should do... cleanliness is the key really, as with all engine jobs(!) Allow 2hrs to do... if you've never done before... ok?
