After my daughter's 2008 Focus was flooded in a parking lot this summer, the air bag light is on. One mechanic says we need an alternator and another says to replace the restraint control module. Who is correct?
For the airbag light situation to be resolved you need the airbag code to be deciphered from a scantool that can read airbag codes,,If the alternator has low output it would turn on also the ABS light,If the car was flooded it is posible that the control module did short out its location in in the center bottom console
This channel on YouTube has ALL airbag module location VIDEOS: https://youtu.be/YfNrq7u4KTc

Just took one out last night. It also was stuck. Had to use small pry bar to get off the front mount. Sprayed the mount with PB blast to help. You do have to use some force, becareful not to break any electrical connections. Once the front mount was free, I had to pry up on it using a small hatchet. Only thing that would fit and actually be able to pry. The alternator became twisted from prying only on one side, so I used a block of wood and tapped it back straight. It finally released from the mounts and came loose. Then the fun begins in trying to actually get it out. Had to disconnect everything around it, took two people and alot of twisting and turning. Not looking forward to getting it back in. Removal took over 2 hours.

You need 4,6 qts of 5W-20 motor oil. If I were you I'd start right now to use synthetic oil. If you decide to do it - go with "The First in Synthetics" and the best: Amsoil! 5W-20 XL motor oil gives you (guaranteed) protection for 7.500 miles. (Do not fall for warranty cancellations or similar dealership spam. Magnuson-Moss act prohibts cancellations based on brand). Read this: http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfilterstudy/oilfilterstudy.html or this: http://www.lesabret.com/filters/filter.html and try to avoid Fram filters. It seems that any other filter is better than Fram. I'd recommend Amsoil, Wix, Carquest (made by Wix), Mobil...

I just did this for a friend this morning. Sounds scary bot it is easy.
1) remove P.S. fluid filler and pin it aside
2) remove radiator overflow canister and pin it aside
3) unplug wiring harnesses right over the alternator (back right of the engine compartment)
4) The scary part - remove the 3 engine mount bolts on that sode of the car
5) from the transmission jack up the engine just enough to tilt it forward slightly
6) it takes 2, tilt the engine forward and lift out the alt - you should have removed the belt at this time.,
7) take the sole (red) wire off of the alt.
8) finish in reverse order
