U can do this, use a B&M brand cooler, use a kit for your truck if availiable get one with screw in hose fittings, never use hose clamps on an oil cooler if u can avoid it, if u choose to use clamps check them and tighten them as ness at every oil change. try the link below for a cooler.

Can I bypass the oil cooler on a 96 Ford f250

It is generally not recommended to bypass the oil cooler on a vehicle, as the oil cooler serves an important function in the operation of the engine. The oil cooler helps to regulate the temperature of the oil, which can have a significant impact on the overall performance and longevity of the engine. If the oil becomes too hot, it can break down and cause engine damage.

If you are experiencing problems with the oil cooler on your 1996 Ford F250, it may be best to have it repaired or replaced rather than attempting to bypass it. If you are having difficulty with the oil cooler, it is important to diagnose the issue and address it as soon as possible to avoid potentially costly damage to your engine

Why is my 6.0 ford diesel blowing coolant out under the resivoir cap . I jus had egr cooler, oil cooler, high press. oil pump , & turbo replaced !!

There is a possibility it is overfull. Ford put out a TSB which lowered the hot full level on the recovery tank about an inch. These recovery tanks also have had a history of developing pinholes and cracks on the top side that sometimes appear to be leaks from the cap. If you do not find a remedy with the tank itself, there are tools that can be used to check for combustion gasses in the cooling system. If you find combustion gasses in the cooling system, have the EGR cooler pressure tested before pulling the heads. If you do have to pull the heads replace the headbolts with ARP studs and nuts.
