Ranger8+ diesel will not weld or generate.

Stopped high idle, weld and generate all at once, pulled cover, all seems tight, brushes good.

Check for proper placement of all springs & linkage on carb / throttle. One of those springs and/or linkage pieces is largely responsible for idling UP the engine so that it will be able to operate the welder & generator. If it won't idle up, it won't work right.

Ive got a 96 caprice 4.3l that idles real high in park and calms down a little in gear but rpms are still to high...replace pcv valve and vacuum lines...next likliest cause?

Idle air control motor. Mounted to the side of the throttle body. Pull it, clean it and the hole it came out of. Brake clean and a tooth brush. If it still idles high, replace the motor.

My welder will run and weld fine at high idle speed but shuts of when the low idle kicks in. Checked fuel system to see if it was a fuel issue, no problems there. Any ideas?

If you're trying to weld at low idle it may be that the load on the engine stalls it before it can automatically go back to high idle.
You may need to "trick it" back to high idle before you begin welding.

How do i set the idle on my 1991 Honda Lx so it will pass emissions

should be a idle screw on the throttle body. right next to the accelerator cable. also make sure your cable isn't pulled tight keeping the accelerator opened slightly for a high idle

Cant seem to get the idle are timing locket in seem to idle to high the check engine light stays on

Find out what code the CEL is throwing. It could just be that your idle needs to be reset. Or you got the timing wrong when putting your car back together and it's running excessively hot.

My silverado is running about 1200 rpm"s, i changed the throttle body sensor, no difference, if i take out the pcv valve, it slows down, but shake it, it is good, the oil cap unscrew it it barley...

look for the idle air bypass valve it sounds like it is stuck open leaving the engine idle at too high of an rpm, that would explian the hard braking because it cant build any vacum for the brake booster to work.

My daughter was driving her 1997 Mercury Sable (not DOHC, just regular) said he heard a noise, smelled a burning smell (just for a second) and throttle opened wide (again, just for a second). She stopped,...

even though your reading 13.9 volts at battery at 2000rpms,
you need to load the alternator and battery to get a real reading, start car,put high beams, heater blower on high, and flashers on while in low gear, your going to have to have a friend help so you can test at battery with a multi meter.

1939cadi voltage regulator adjustments

Remove the regulator cover and inspect the relay contacts (remove the negative battery terminal) and interior of the case for rust or corrosion. If the contacts have a rough pitted appearance, you can lightly file them (with a very thin small file) (don't use sandpaper or emery cloth). Check the resistors under the base for tight connections. Also, check the brushes in the generator for length and spring tension. Tighten the armature and field connections--they shouldn't wiggle in the generator body. Check the fan belt for condition and proper tension. Make sure the generator turns freely with the belt off--no noise or side to side movement. Check the body-to-frame grounding strap for condition and end-bolt connections. Good luck!

Puttering when stopped

it could possibly be a sensor but i am almost positive it will tell you that your idle speed is too low. You must set your idle speed back to normal. Go to your throttle cable and there should be a screw (maybe two if you have cruise control) that you can move back and forth to control position of throttle spring. Once you have your RPM's set around 800 (or at smooth idle without sounding too high) then you have corrected your idle speed.
