Security light comes on intermittently on Buick Lesabre

The Security light does not work properly, instead it comes on a random times while I am driving. Also the Instrument panel works intermittently as well....I have since learned that using any key other than the one with the Buick symbol on it could be the problem so now I am only using that key. So far, I have not had either problem but its only been 24 hours. I'm gonna see if this "fixes: it but if not, any ideas?

So I recently read somewhere that I should make sure I am using a key that has the Buick logo on iot. When I bought the car I was given sevearl keys but only 2 have the lgos. Anyway, long story short, for about a week now I have been using the suggested key and guess what: No security light comes on and no problems at all with the instrument panel! So I think its safe to say I have "fixed" this problem. If anything changes I'll be sure to update it.

You need to have the security system scanned when this problem is occurring, it could be a door ajar switch that is defective.

SOURCE: 1995 Buick LeSabre won't start when security light comes on.

When my 1994 LaSabre had a problem recognizing the chip in the key (due to the contacts in the lock not working), I managed to bypass the system by locating the two wires (clear tube with two smaller wires in it exiting the steerin column, unlike any other wiring), cutting the cable, and soldering a resistor across the two wires that go to the hidden module thet in turn controlls the starter and sends a signal to the engine computer. Use a resistor of the same resistamce value as in one of the keys for the car (measure resistors with a digital meter). There are a dozen or so values used. You loose the extra protection of the chip, but the fix is low cost.

Yes it's on the right side othe transmission just above the passenger side cv axle. You most likley need to send the cluster off and have it checked. Model Electronics in NY.

Security light is on

Mine came on and off intermittantly, it turned out to be the ignition lock cylinder and the key. The key was very loose in the ignition, causing the light to come on

I have a 1998 Buick LeSabre that has been shutting off randomly going down the road for no apparent reason

It is common for GM's vehicles to stall due to the anti theft security system. Look for a light that says "security" the next time it stalls. If you see this light, check out this link for options and info. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

My 93 buick lesabre security light will stay on and i cant start my car til its off

The security system (VATS/PassKey) is having problems, it's typical on those cars/years. When the TDM starts failing, it will do it gradually and the car will begin to randomly don't start like yours is doing now and then gets worse with time up to a point that it won't start anymore. It's been a nightmare for us. You can find a great write-up here: http://newrockies.ca , it was the only thing that saved my 94 Park Avenue that has the same security system.

I have a 98 buick LeSabre showing a random missfire code

Disconnect the battery for about a half hour or so. This could clear the code and turn off the light. If it has a problem the light will return. If it does replace the spark plugs one at a time being sure the gap is perfect.

AC/heater fan on 1992 Buick LeSabre only works intermittently

Could be a bad control switch, relay or connection and ground at motor itself. Since it's intermittent, check voltages when it's working, then again when it's not. Wherever voltage stops, that's what you need to replace. Don't wait on this...when completely inoperative it gets much harder to find the problem!
