My car was fine when i turned it off and now it will not crank the battery died and was replaced but it still will not crank now. the windows will roll down and lights will turn on but it will not start. the glow plug light will not even come on. could the plugs be the problem?
I doubt this helps but my vehicle which is not a VW but my vehicle will not start it just clicks? Maybe a fuse or something?? I have a cousin and her hisband works for VW in Kansa City,Kansas I can always ask him?? Let me know if I need to or your problem is already solved?

sounds like your passlock sensor on the ignition barrel is faulty. you will have to go to the dealer to have it replaced because of the programming after replacement.

My 2000 cavalier has done this for 6 months. You take your key out then open your door, wait ten minutes and the system resets itself and the car will start-annoying you bet!!!

Reolace belt, alternator, and volt regulator, and new battery. sounds like your battery is on fumes. You could just try that first, but if it's the other prob., you could damage the battery.
