Replaced old ignition with new one and the new ignition won't lock in place

Inspect the old ignition cycle which is out.Is there any problem noticed of Ignition cylinder getting worn out.
Because when issue of ignition not turning off,its faulty ignition lock cylinder or faulty ignition switch.I suggest re-inspect the new ignition cylinder.

If the ignition normally only locks with the vehicle in park position, then check the switch on the gear lever mechanism is working.
If not, then you'll have to jiggle and wiggle that key out or replace the ignition lock.

Pull it out and reinstall it. Chances are you did not get the new parts properly engaged with the opposite/complementary stops on the steering column.

This car has a chip key, you can't just put any old key in it it must be programmed to not turn on the security system and disable starting, which is what you have now, the system has locked you out.

Check the coils that have been replace for bent or broken prongs that plug into the ignition control module and if nothing looks damaged then i would think the ignition control module is faulty.Replace ignition control module.

Hi, those can be particularly nasty to diagnose. I had a 96 park avenue-same thing after I hit a deer. OK, some info please. Did you hit anything? Replace a starter or battery? Have a new key made or have very old keys? Replace an ignition lock cylinder or have a problem turning key? Those things can trigger the passlock anti-theft system. Seems your car is in lock-down mode. (It thinks its being stolen.)

How to remove an ignition cylinder for repair or replacement if your Grand Cherokee's ignition won't turn. This is due to the tumblers failing. Key must be tuned to the on position. Then you press in the lock tab to release it so you can repair yourself or more likely, bring it to a locksmith to have the tumblers replaced. This can be done to match the existing key. Obviously, you'll have to get it to turn to do this. Usually a good dose of WD40 and tapping on the head of the key (straight in) will free it up temporarily. This would be the view from underneath the column after removing the two shroud halves.

Now you have a good battery & a starter that turns over the motor

Have you cycled the key on & off with a fuel pressure gauge on the
fuel rail?

Do you have a fuel filter that isn't over 3 or 4 years old?

Have you checked for spark while cranking ? Use an old plug on the wires,
if you have ignition wires,don't ground the wire without resistance

If you removed the ducting & MAF Sensor it won't start

Tell us what you checked & exactly how that was done.

I know in the newer versions of the Bravada, Trailblazers, Envoys, the ignition switch itself is always the culprit. Not the switch the key goes in, but it's located under the steering wheel column. I know how to replace the newer ones but not yours. That's the first place I'd look.
